Outcast Queen: Her Return from Hell novel Chapter 227

"Also..." Phoenix pulled her phone from her bag. The screen lit up, displaying an ongoing call with a contact named—[Nolan].

"Didn't you say I didn't understand 'The Abyss'? Let's let the man himself review it."

She tapped the speaker icon, and an excited, elderly male voice instantly filled the room, carrying a thick London accent:

"Oh My God!! Star! That variation was absolute perfection! Only you can capture that kind of soul! I've always said the third movement of this piece must be played with your revised version to truly be a masterpiece!!"

Silence.

Deathly silence.

Everyone stared at Phoenix in sheer horror.

Maestro Nolan... called her Star? And said she revised the sheet music?!

Phoebe's legs gave out, and she collapsed entirely onto the floor, her eyes brimming with despair and devastation.

This time, her pride was well and truly shattered.

"How could you possibly know Maestro Nolan?!" Vanessa's voice was shrill and strained. She stared intensely at the discarded daughter she thought was beneath her, who was now standing so high she could only look up to her.

This was impossible! Absolutely impossible!

"It's fake. It has to be fake!" Vanessa growled, completely losing her composure.

Phoenix nonchalantly tugged at the corner of her mouth, feeling nothing but pity as she looked at Vanessa's pale, hysterical face in utter denial. "Whether it's fake or not, I'm sure the ladies here aren't deaf."

Whispers swept through the crowd like a tidal wave.

"I had the honor of hearing Maestro Nolan live once. That voice and tone over the phone were definitely his."

"Fake or not, Ms. Prescott's rendition of 'The Abyss' was leagues deeper and better than the second daughter's so-called masterpiece."

The tide of public opinion shifted instantly. Those words were like physical slaps, striking Vanessa's face over and over, destroying her arrogant beliefs.

Phoebe felt as if she were going insane from the humiliation. This was supposed to be her glowing moment, a stage to regain her mother's trust. But now, she was just a stepping stone and a massive joke. It completely blew up in her face!

"Mom, are you okay?" Phoebe fought back her shame, gritted her teeth, and stepped forward, trying to comfort Vanessa with a hint of grievance.

Just as she reached out to hook Vanessa's arm, Vanessa flinched violently as if electrocuted, a flash of pure annoyance in her eyes.

"Don't touch me."

"Mom!?" Phoebe froze, staring in shock at the mother who had always doted on her. "What... what's wrong?"
