Outcast Queen: Her Return from Hell novel Chapter 233

"Julian, Mom and I are in Dad's office. You need to come over."

Hearing Phoebe's tearful voice, Julian's frown deepened. "I'm really busy right now. I can't get away."

"Julian, I know you're busy. But... today at the tea party, Mom and I were publicly humiliated by Phoenix." Phoebe's voice was laced with utter grievance. "It's all my fault for not being talented enough to make Mom proud."

"But she really crossed the line, embarrassing us in front of all those society wives. If word gets out, the Prescott family will become a laughingstock again."

"Enough!" Julian pinched the bridge of his nose, letting out an irritated growl.

The other end of the line fell silent for a moment before Phoebe's panicked voice came through. "Julian, what... what's wrong?"

Realizing he had lost his temper, Julian took a deep breath, forcing down his rising anger. "I'm really busy. Just discuss whatever it is with Dad."

With that, he hung up the phone.

Staring at the messy pile of documents on his desk, his frustration only grew. He stood up and left the office, intending to get some fresh air in the breakroom.

Just as he turned the corner, he bumped right into Phoenix walking toward him.

Julian paused, instinctively stopping to take a good look at his sister.

She was dressed in a tailored business suit, her long hair neatly pinned up. From her appearance to her aura, she exuded a natural, effortless elegance and cold beauty. Even though she had just gotten out of a hellhole like Blackwood Penitentiary, carrying the weight of four years behind bars, it couldn't mask the innate pride in her bones.

It was a commanding presence that Phoebe could never replicate, no matter how many etiquette coaches she hired or designer brands she piled on.

Was this the undeniable power of their bloodline?

"Phoenix."

Like he was possessed, Julian called out to her.

Phoenix's footsteps faltered slightly. Looking up and seeing Julian, her delicate brows drew together. "What do you want, Mr. Julian?"

Julian was suddenly lost for words, a wave of panic washing over him. He had just called out to her on impulse, completely clueless about how to communicate with the sister he had hurt countless times.

Phoenix acutely picked up on his strange behavior. In the past, whenever this man looked at her, his eyes held nothing but disgust and contempt. But today... was there a hint of guilt hiding in his gaze?

The sun really must be rising in the west.

"If there's nothing else, excuse me."

Phoenix withdrew her gaze and walked past him with cold indifference, treating him like empty air.
