Outcast Queen: Her Return from Hell novel Chapter 251

“Pierce, even though we agreed on a year, the contract didn't explicitly say we had to wait until it expired to terminate it, did it?” Phoenix smirked playfully. “Or is it that you've developed feelings for me? You don't want to cut ties so soon?”

Pierce's eyes narrowed, as if she had struck a nerve. He bristled in irritation. “Me? Catch feelings? I'm just playing by the rules. If you want to end this early, I have no objections.”

Yancy covered his face in despair. It was over. With Pierce's stubborn pride, he was going to have a hell of a time winning his wife back later.

“Alright, as long as you're on board.” Phoenix shrugged, her face unreadable. Her breezy indifference only irritated Pierce further. “I'll aim to take down the Prescott Family within a month, and then... I'll see you at the courthouse.”

With that, she walked right past Pierce and headed straight for the exit.

Pierce turned to stare at her retreating figure, his hands slowly balling into fists at his sides.

What was wrong with him? Why didn't he feel a sense of relief hearing her talk about leaving? Why was he filled with this overwhelming, uncontrollable surge of anger and panic instead?

“Phoenix.”

“Yeah?” Phoenix stopped and glanced over her shoulder.

“While the agreement is active, we still have to follow the rules,” Pierce said, forcing down the turbulent emotions in his chest to regain his usual cold composure. “We go home together.”

Phoenix didn't argue. She just shrugged and continued walking.

Pierce followed her, shooting Yancy a single look. The assistant immediately took the hint and jogged off to bring the car around.

“Wait.”

Phoenix called out to Yancy. “I drove myself here. Let's take my car.”

An image of Phoenix's sleek, midnight-black Lamborghini Veneno flashed through Pierce's mind. It only had two seats. He immediately turned to Yancy. “Drive my car back.”

“Yes, Ninth.” Yancy bowed slightly and tactfully retreated, leaving the two of them alone.

Phoenix was about to get into the driver's seat, but Pierce beat her to it, opening the door and sliding in first. His excuse was perfectly tailored—a gentleman would never let a lady play chauffeur.

Too tired to argue, Phoenix walked around and got into the passenger seat.

The engine roared to life like a waking beast as the Veneno sliced through the night, slowly pulling away from The Meridian Club.
