"I support him!"
"Me too!"
One by one, the shareholders voiced their support for Silas taking over as the CEO of the Sterling Group.
Silas lifted his chin, his eyes practically gleaming with greed.
His lips curved into a smug smile as he envisioned his future business empire, imagining the city's elites scrambling to curry favor with him.
From now on, the Sterling Group—no, all of Cloudhaven—would belong to him.
"I object!"
A cold voice sliced through the room.
Everyone froze and snapped their heads toward the conference room doors as a striking figure walked in.
Dressed in all black with her hair tied in a sleek high ponytail, her light makeup only accentuated her sharp, commanding aura. Her eyes were bright and piercing, as if they could see right through their souls.
"Phoenix Prescott?" Silas shot out of his chair in disbelief. "What are you doing here?"
Phoenix strode into the room, a provocative glint in her eyes. "Uncle Silas, my husband is in trouble. As his wife, shouldn't I be here to help shoulder the burden?"
She pulled up a chair and sat down with the imposing grace of a queen, sweeping her gaze over the shareholders.
"Or did you all plan to usurp his throne behind my back?"
"Don't forget, Pierce is only missing, not... dead!"
Those words sent a visible shudder through the room. Fear painted the shareholders' faces.
