Outcast Queen: Her Return from Hell novel Chapter 30

When he recognized that handsome yet terrifyingly cold face, Leo's legs buckled, and his voice completely pitched: "E-Eustace?!"

The man was none other than Eustace!

His eyes were as cold as poisoned ice. He walked right up to Leo without a single word of nonsense—and raised his leg!

Thud! The heavy combat boot, carrying devastating force, slammed right into Leo's chest!

"Urgh!" Leo was lifted completely off his feet and sent flying backward. He crashed heavily into the bar, sending expensive liquor bottles shattering everywhere!

The intense pain nearly made him pass out. Struggling to lift his head, he stared in terror and confusion. "B-Boss?! W-Why?!"

"Why?" Eustace stood over the battered man, a bone-chilling smile curling on his lips. He spoke slowly, like handing down a death sentence: "How many lives do you think you have..."

"To dare lay a finger on Ms. Prescott?"

Leo was completely bewildered, mind reeling as he blindly repeated, "M-Ms. Prescott?" His head was a mess. Which... Ms. Prescott?!

Eustace's voice skyrocketed with furious disbelief. "The woman you offended tonight! Her last name is Prescott!"

It struck him like a bolt of lightning!

"Ph-Phoenix Prescott?" Leo jolted violently! The image of that woman staring him down like a queen flashed in his mind, and his heart plummeted into the abyss!

"Exactly! She is the boss!" Eustace's voice carried the chill of eternal ice. "She is Yara's..."

"Sole heir!"

The boss? The name might have been unfamiliar to Leo.

But those words—'Yara's sole heir'!

They crashed down on him like a ten-thousand-foot glacier! Every single shred of luck, confusion, and pain he felt was instantly frozen! Crushed! And ground into—

Absolute hell!

Leo slumped entirely on the floor, his face as pale as a corpse. His body convulsed uncontrollably as sheer terror swallowed him whole like freezing seawater.

This time, he was completely doomed!

The doors pushed open.

Phoenix's cool figure stepped back into the trashed club.

At a glance, she saw the massive crowd of thugs who had been viciously posturing moments ago now slumped on the floor, frantically slapping their own faces in a desperate display of submission.

Every slap was genuine, their cheeks quickly reddening and swelling, some even bleeding.

This bizarre scene of collective penance made her raise an eyebrow slightly.

"Boss!" Eustace instantly shifted his demeanor, pulling back all his murderous intent. He stepped forward quickly and bowed his head respectfully.

His genuine reverence was a stark contrast to the brutal violence he had just unleashed on Leo.

The extreme switch made the still-kneeling Leo's scalp tingle. He slapped himself even harder, the muffled sounds of skin on flesh growing faster and heavier—

He knew very well that if he couldn't satisfy the deity standing before him, forget seeing the sun tomorrow, he wouldn't even survive to see the moon tonight!

"What's going on?" Phoenix's gaze swept over the self-harming crowd like they were wind-up toys, her tone so flat it was impossible to read.

"Blind dogs who dared to offend you, boss." Eustace straightened up, casting a glare at Leo that instantly froze into ice. "They deserve a beating! And if you're still not satisfied..."

He paused, his murderous intent flaring again.

She truly was... Yara's heir!!

Phoenix stepped forward slowly, the soles of her combat boots clicking against the cold floor.

She stopped in front of Leo, looking down at the man who had just tried to cut his own throat.

"Death?" A faint trace of mockery brushed her lips. "Death is easy."

"I'm giving you a chance to live." Her clear voice carried an unquestionable ruling. "From now on, you work for me."

The words fell with absolute weight.

Leo felt as if he had been granted amnesty by heaven. His body trembled from the massive rush of surviving disaster and an uncontrollable excitement. He bowed his head low, pressing his forehead heavily against the floor. "Yes! Boss!! I, Leo Vance... pledge my life to you!!"

In this moment, it felt as if he had reclaimed the burning, blood-pumping loyalty and belonging he once felt when he followed Yara!

Eustace's eyes flickered. Looking at Phoenix's towering back that radiated invisible pressure, he understood.

The massive foundation Yara had left for her was enough to make all of Cloudhaven tremble. She absolutely didn't need to recruit a small-time gang like The Obsidian Syndicate.

Yet, she chose to take them in...

Low profile. Hiding her edge.

Those two words flashed in Eustace's mind.

She intended to keep her connection with Yara a secret to avoid unnecessary trouble, while... slowly building up her own personal power.

Eustace's lips curled up slightly, his eyes filled with absolute conviction.

Yara really... didn't pick the wrong person.
