Her words hit Warren like a bucket of ice water. The color instantly drained from his face as he remembered the fatal truth: Vanessa had transferred the deed of the entire estate to Phoenix!
Legally speaking, Phoenix's eviction order was flawless.
"What's wrong? Can't find it?" Phoenix scoffed, her eyes brimming with absolute contempt. "That's fine. I have mine right here. As the sole legal owner of this property, I have every right to remove trespassers from my home. Is there a problem?"
Her tone turned glacial. "Or do I need to call the cops to drag you out?"
"Phoenix, there's no need to be this ruthless," Alistair said heavily, taking a deep breath.
"You are the last person on earth who gets to lecture me about being ruthless!" Phoenix's gaze snapped to the old man, sharp as a blade. "I only called you grandfather out of basic human decency."
"But you were the one who publicly severed our ties. Our relationship died the moment you made that announcement. Since you burned the bridge first, what gives you the right to demand mercy now?"
The verbal slap echoed loudly, leaving Alistair completely humiliated.
His chest heaved with rage. He pointed a trembling finger at Phoenix, but no words came out. He had entirely lost the moral high ground.
"Lawrence, clear them out. If I see anyone lingering on my property in three minutes, you're all fired."
"Right away, Ms. Prescott."
Lawrence gestured, and the wall of security guards advanced menacingly.
"Alistair, please. Do not make this harder than it has to be." Lawrence extended his hand in a gesture of dismissal, leaving no room for negotiation.
Alistair glared at the butler. This was a man he had personally elevated, and now Lawrence was just another blade pressed against his throat.
"Warren, Phoebe, we are leaving." Alistair turned away, leaning heavily on his cane, his face clouded with dark fury.
Though seething with rage, Warren and Phoebe knew they had been thoroughly defeated. They had no choice but to follow.
Right before stepping out the gate, the two turned back, shooting Phoenix a look of venomous hatred.
As Arthur passed Pierce, he paused. "Pierce, you are crossing a dangerous line. You should always leave yourself an out... or else your downfall will be incredibly ugly."
Pierce let out a dark chuckle, arrogance radiating from his every pore. "Arthur, we'll just have to wait and see whose downfall is uglier."
