Outcast Queen: Her Return from Hell novel Chapter 374

"Break her heart?" Phoenix stopped in her tracks, looking down at the pathetic man with a mix of pity and mockery. "Do you really think trash like you is even worthy of her attention?"

"Meeting adjourned."

Leaving those two words behind, Phoenix turned and strode out of the boardroom, radiating an icy chill.

It wasn't until the crisp sound of her heels completely faded down the hallway that collective gasps of relief filled the dead-silent room. Several shareholders slumped in their chairs, realizing their dress shirts were drenched in cold sweat.

"That was terrifying... How does someone her age have such a suffocating presence?"

"Shh! Keep your voice down! She holds fifty-one percent of the power. Crushing us would be easier than squashing ants. Let's just keep our heads down from now on!"

Still reeling from the shock, the group's glares collectively shifted toward Mavis, who was cowering in the corner. Their eyes burned with undisguised resentment.

If this idiot hadn't come to seize power, why would she have summoned the executioner? They could have comfortably collected their dividends, but now, a guillotine hung over their heads. Every day forward would be like walking on thin ice.

Enduring the stabbing glares, Mavis gritted her teeth and stumbled out of the boardroom.

Hiding in an empty stairwell, she dialed an encrypted number with trembling hands.

"Listen... the plan changed. Phoenix intervened, and the takeover at Lumina failed." She desperately suppressed the panic in her voice. "You have to keep a close eye on Meredith. Word cannot get out. If Phoenix finds out we have her, we're all dead!"

Hanging up hastily, Mavis fled the building like a stray dog.

On the top floor, inside the CEO's office.

Phoenix sank into Meredith's massive leather chair. The harshness in her eyes faded slightly, replaced by a heavy, unyielding worry.

She dialed an international number.

"Hello, my dear Phoenix! What brings you to call me today?" a man's cheerful voice rang out.

Phoenix pinched the bridge of her nose, her voice slightly hoarse but carrying an undeniable urgency. "Master Padraig. Tell me, how is Meredith doing?"

"Meredith? Didn't she return home ages ago?" Padraig sounded confused. "Phoenix, is something wrong?"

"Nothing's wrong. I suppose she wanted to surprise me and kept her itinerary a secret." Phoenix let out a soft chuckle, her tone perfectly normal. "I won't take up any more of your time, Padraig."
