Phoenix stepped through the gates of the Miller Estate, Yolanda closely following behind.
She radiated an undeniable, freezing aura. The oppressive pressure forced the guiding butler and the passing servants to hold their breath, none daring to cross the path of this living nightmare.
Halfway through the courtyard, Phoenix suddenly stopped in her tracks, her sharp gaze slicing toward a dark corner nearby.
"Ms. Prescott, is something wrong?" The butler noticed the anomaly and turned around in a panic.
Before he could finish, a gunshot ripped through the air! The deafening crack terrified the servants, who screamed and ducked for cover.
But Phoenix had already anticipated it. Moving like a ghost, she dodged to the side, the bullet grazing her coat and embedding itself in the ground.
In the next second, she launched herself off the ground, shooting toward the dark corner like an arrow unleashed!
The assassin hiding in the shadows paled in horror and turned to flee.
But Phoenix's speed was terrifying. In the blink of an eye, her slender yet explosively powerful figure firmly blocked his path.
"Die!" The assassin roared, a vicious gleam in his eyes as he pulled a dagger and lunged straight for her vitals.
Phoenix's eyes narrowed coldly. Instead of dodging, her fingers clamped down on his wrist like a steel vice, mercilessly twisting it outward.
Crack!
The sickening sound of bones snapping echoed through the courtyard, accompanied by an agonizing scream.
Before the assassin could catch his breath, Phoenix snatched the falling dagger and pinned him ruthlessly against the rough pavement, the icy blade instantly pressing against his pulsing jugular.
"Who sent you?" she demanded, her voice dripping with ice as she looked down at him. She pressed the blade slightly, drawing a bright line of blood across his neck.
The assassin was terrified, clearly not expecting this woman's combat skills to be so monstrous. But just as he trembled, he caught sight of Thaddeus and Mavis stepping out of the main house. His expression shifted instantly.
"No, don't kill me!" he shrieked loudly, begging for mercy, while strangely thrusting his neck forward.
Phoenix frowned. By the time she realized what was happening, the man had thrown himself onto the blade, slicing his own throat open. Warm blood sprayed across the pavement.
The bloody scene left the courtyard in dead silence.
