"Ladies and gentlemen, please don't joke at my expense," Barrett smiled smoothly, throwing his hands up in surrender. "While I would love to claim that title, I don't possess the god-like ability to build Draco Enterprises out of thin air."
"At least you know your limits, Barrett. I like hearing that." A lazy, arrogant voice cut through the chatter.
Pierce Sterling swirled the red wine in his glass, a mocking sneer curving his lips. "After all, your true talent lies in faking a limp and hiding in the gutter playing petty games."
The smile instantly froze on Barrett's face, his eyes turning glacial. "Pierce, given your tone, don't tell me Draco Enterprises belongs to you?"
"Hahaha, you actually guessed right." Pierce let out a low chuckle, shrugging effortlessly. "Barrett, it seems you finally had a smart moment tonight."
"Pierce, stop making a fool of yourself!" Silas frowned deeply, his voice sharp with disgust. "Without the Sterling Group, what the hell are you? You're nothing but a stray dog we kicked to the curb. Now you're surviving by living off a woman! And you dare claim to be the founder of Draco? You're an absolute joke!"
"Pierce, this joke isn't funny anymore," Mavis chimed in right on cue, her tone dripping with ridicule. "Tonight is Draco Enterprises' main event. Even if the woman standing next to you is the boss of Ignis Global, you don't have the right to stand here and run your mouth."
Pierce's dark, narrow eyes slightly squinted. Not only was he entirely unfazed by their anger, but a trace of intense amusement rippled in his gaze.
There were always people in this world who loved lying to themselves. You could shove the truth right in their faces, and they'd still refuse to believe it, practically begging you to slap them with reality.
"Pierce, it's time for your grand entrance." Phoenix gracefully turned around, reaching up to smooth out the slight wrinkles on his collar. Her fingertips gently brushed his jawline, her beautiful eyes shimmering with pride. "Go on. From now on, this is your kingdom."
At the same time, Quentin took a deep breath on stage, his voice booming over the speakers to fill the room.
"And now, please welcome the true mastermind behind Draco Enterprises to the stage!"
The corners of Pierce's lips pulled into a devastating smirk. He reached out with a long arm, pulling Phoenix forcefully into his chest, dipping his head to capture her lips in a fierce kiss.
It was intensely predatory, completely undeniable in its dominance.
Phoenix could feel the heavy, racing beat of his heart against her chest, sensing the explosive adrenaline he had kept suppressed for far too long.
He had waited in the shadows for this very moment.
The kiss broke.
Pierce gently brushed his thumb across her flushed cheek, his voice low and incredibly soft. "Be a good girl and watch the show I prepared for you."
