"Are you sure?" Jade's voice was still trembling.
Leaning into her mother's embrace, an unprecedented wave of regret washed over her.
If she had just reined in her bratty temper back then, if her father hadn't been blinded by greed and tried to plot against Phoenix, if her mother hadn't fought her at every turn... would things have ended differently?
Phoenix was fiercely protective and incredibly loyal.
For the sake of Lewis and Quinn, two subordinates with no blood ties, she had gone absolutely rogue, risking war with the Quincy family just to kick down their door and demand justice.
If their family had genuinely accepted and supported Phoenix from the start, with her capabilities, the family would only be stronger than before.
With an unbreakable pillar like her backing them, who in Highcrest would ever dare look down on them?
Unfortunately, realizing all this now was far too late.
Meanwhile, after leaving the villa, Phoenix didn't return to the office. Instead, she drove straight to the hospital.
Inside the VIP ward, Lewis and Quinn were awake.
They looked incredibly pale and weak, but after emergency treatment, their vitals had stabilized.
"Lewis, Quinn. I'm sorry." Phoenix stood by the bed, looking at the bandages wrapped around them, a flicker of guilt in her eyes. "My profile made me a target, and it dragged you into the crossfire."
"Ms. Prescott, please don't say that. How could this be your fault?" Lewis shook his head weakly, forcing a reassuring smile. "We were careless. We never expected the people in Highcrest to be crazy enough to kidnap someone in broad daylight."
Quinn nodded in agreement. Her voice was soft, but it carried the profound relief of someone who had just escaped death. "Exactly, Ms. Prescott. Honestly... the fact that you came for us is more than enough."
"When we were locked in that pitch-black basement, my brother and I genuinely thought we were dead. A place that hidden—nobody should have been able to find us. Just when we had completely given up, you kicked the door down..." Quinn's eyes grew red. "At that moment, I swear you looked like a god coming down from the heavens."
"Or rather... an angel sent to save us."
Phoenix chuckled softly, shaking her head. She was no angel.
When dealing with her enemies, she was an absolute demon.
The only difference was that this demon still possessed enough humanity to fiercely protect her own people.
