Outcast Queen: Her Return from Hell novel Chapter 87

"The other three will get their turn." Phoenix collected the document bearing both signatures, her tone entirely flat.

"Now, can you drop the charges?!" Vanessa ground her teeth.

Phoenix leisurely held up two fingers. "Second, you've already transferred the deed to this manor to Phoebe, haven't you? Now, you will transfer it back to me."

Vanessa and Julian both froze.

"You... you want the house too?!" Julian gasped.

"Why not?" Phoenix sneered, her gaze sweeping over Phoebe. "She can have it, but I, the rightful heiress, can't?"

She turned once again to the police officers, her voice calm but carrying an invisible weight. "Officers, in your view, is it too much for me to take back what rightfully belongs to me?"

The two officers exchanged a knowing look. By procedure, they weren't supposed to weigh in on family disputes, but this family's blatant favoritism toward the adopted daughter and abuse of the biological one was sickening. The adopted daughter's grand theft was backed by hard evidence, so the biological daughter reclaiming a usurped property was perfectly just.

"As long as it's legal, it's not too much," one of the officers replied sternly.

Phoenix's lips curved into a victorious smile as her gaze shot toward Vanessa like a blade. "So, are you giving it up or not?"

Vanessa and Julian looked livid, as if foreseeing the humiliation of being kicked out onto the street.

"Mom, Julian... I'm so sorry, this is all my fault..." Phoebe sobbed at the perfect moment, her eyes welling with tears.

Vanessa and Julian's hearts instantly softened. Their ache for Phoebe ultimately overpowered everything else.

"...Fine! The house is yours!" Vanessa forced the words through her teeth.

Phoenix raised an eyebrow in satisfaction and nodded to the officers. "Thank you for your hard work. I'm dropping the charges."

The two officers sighed. Before leaving, they couldn't help but offer one last word of advice. "Miss, peace brings prosperity to a home. You're all family..."

Before they could finish the sentence, they met Phoenix's dark, bottomless, and utterly tranquil eyes. They suddenly realized how terribly hollow their words sounded and left shaking their heads.

"Phoebe, let's go!"

"Vanessa, the property transfer paperwork..." Phoenix's voice drifted over lazily. "Don't forget."

Vanessa shot her a venomous glare and supported the sobbing Phoebe as they hurried away, their retreating figures looking utterly pathetic.

Julian stood rooted to the spot, looking at Phoenix. His lips parted, but all that came out was a low growl. "Phoenix! You'll regret this sooner or later!" As if trying to convince himself, he dropped the threat and hurried after them.

Regret?

"Hmph! That ungrateful wolf is only throwing her weight around because Old Mr. Alistair is backing her and she has that marriage contract with Pierce!" Vanessa said bitterly. "I bet she's just bluffing. Give it a few days, and she'll be back crying and begging us!"

"Mom!" Julian couldn't help but interrupt, his brows furrowed tightly. "I think... Phoenix was dead serious this time!"

"Serious?" Vanessa scoffed. "Have you forgotten how she acted like a pathetic, tail-wagging dog when she first came back? Deep down, she's a cheap brat desperate for love. Cut off from her biological parents, she's nothing but a rootless weed! Sever ties? She wouldn't dare!"

Julian opened his mouth to argue, but remembering Phoenix's ice-cold stare, he ultimately stayed quiet.

Vanessa turned back to Phoebe, a sharp gleam in her eyes. "Phoebe, don't worry. Phoenix's leverage only relies on two things. As long as you can get Old Mr. Alistair to acknowledge you, she won't be able to act out anymore!" She looked at Julian. "Julian, think fast. Is there any way we can quickly secure more leverage for Phoebe?"

Julian frowned in thought. A moment later, his eyes lit up. "I've got it! Maxwell Miller called me today. He's currently asking around for renowned doctors."

"The Miller family? Maxwell Miller?" Vanessa perked up.

"Yes! I heard Old Mr. Miller is gravely ill, and the Miller family is sparing no expense to find a miracle worker." Julian lowered his voice, a hint of excitement creeping in. "If we can find that legendary 'Azure Healer' to cure Old Mr. Miller, and then credit that massive favor to Phoebe... With a debt of gratitude from the Miller family, Old Mr. Alistair will definitely look at Phoebe in a new light!"

A burning, fanatical light exploded in Vanessa's eyes.

The Miller family was an absolute titan in Cloudhaven, even surpassing the Prescott family in certain sectors!

If Phoebe could latch onto the massive tree that was the Miller family, then even without Prescott blood, she could stand tall in front of Old Mr. Alistair. She might even... permanently replace Phoenix!
