Tim lay in the grass, his wolf howling in agony within him. His heart felt shattered, the pieces scattered by the weight of Dana’s revelation. The continuous rejection now made a cruel sense, and all he wanted was to unleash his fury on anything in his path. His mind teetered on the edge of

feral rage, but a command from Azriel stopped him in his tracks.

He turned to see Thunder, Azriel’s imposing wolf, towering over him. The dominance exuded by Thunder left Tim no choice but to submit. He lay down, feeling the cold earth beneath him, a stark contrast to the burning pain in his chest. Thunder settled beside him in silence.

After some time, Azriel’s voice pierced through the haze of Tim’s mind via the mind link. “What happened, Tim?”

There was a hesitant pause before Tim’s dam of emotions broke. He confessed everything to Azriel: how he had marked Dana in a moment of passion and how he had discovered her betrayal, her admission that she had belonged to someone else for fifteen years.

Azriel was silent, processing the heavy truth. Tim broke down, his anguish and suffering spilling out uncontrollably. Finally, Azriel’s voice came through, calm yet firm. “You need to speak with her. Get all the facts before jumping to conclusions.”

“I can’t,” Tim replied, his voice laced with rage and despair. “I can’t look her in the eyes or be close to her, not after all this. Please, Azriel, let me return to our pack.”

To his shock, Azriel denied his request. “No, Tim. You’re a grown man, and you need to face the situation. Running away won’t solve anything. Even if it’s painful, hiding is not an option. You have all of us here, close to you. We know it’s not easy, but whatever you decide, we are here for you.”

Tim felt a wave of mixed emotions: frustration, anger, and a begrudging acceptance of Azriel’s wisdom. After some time, they both shifted back and returned to the coven, the weight of the

conversation hanging heavily in the air.

Back at the coven, Azriel ordered Tim to prepare for their departure to the next destination. “We have a schedule to keep, Tim. Don’t forget the gravity of the situation that the entire supernatural world is facing at the moment. We need to stay focused.”

Tim made his way to his room, a sense of dread tightening his chest. As he opened the door, her scent hit him like a hot rod through his heart, intensifying the pain. To his relief, Dana was not there. He wasn’t sure how he would react if he saw her.

He looked at the bed, flashes of their unleashed passion replaying in his mind. Just a few hours ago, he had been in heaven, and now he was in hell. Gathering his belongings, he tidied the bed and

seeing her sitting next to Lora. He avoided looking at her completely, ignoring her existence. He

could feel Lora’s eyes on him, but he focused elsewhere.

After their farewells, they headed to the convoy, surprised to see four additional vehicles with

warriors awaiting them. These reinforcements had been sent by Markus. The group split between

the vehicles, with Tim choosing a different car while Dana stuck with Lora and Azriel.

Once inside the car, Azriel looked intensely at the beautiful vampiress who was causing such

havoc in his friend’s life. Before he could say anything, Lora mind-linked him.

“Don’t say anything. Let her be,” Lora instructed.

Azriel lifted an arrogant eyebrow at her. “And why not, my dove? You saw and felt Tim’s pain. He is in

agony,” he asked.

“I’ll tell you a story, but you must promise not to react or say anything to anyone else, especially Tim,” Lora replied.

Azriel agreed, and Lora began to recount Dana’s confession. She tells him about how Dana was sold by her family, purchased by Stephan, and endured fifteen years of torment. She explained how Dana’s only way to make life bearable was to become a warrior, despite the heavy punishments she faced from her master. She also told him about Dana’s fear that Stephan would kill Tim once he caught wind of them being together. How she cared more about Tim and said that no one could save him if she was not careful, as Stephan was the Vampire King’s nephew; he was cruel,

entitled and vicious, his main enjoyment being to torment others.
