Friend or Foe?-2

Azriel stood and shook Markus’s hand firmly. “Thank you, Markus. Your support and trust mean everything to us.”

As the conversation began to wind down, Azriel glanced at Markus, his expression serious yet hopeful. “Markus, I have one more request to ask of you.”

Markus, intrigued, leaned forward slightly. “What is it, Azriel?”

Azriel took a deep breath, his gaze flickering briefly to Elora for reassurance. “How can someone

be removed from the terror list?”

Markus’s eyebrows furrowed in confusion. “The usual ways are by death or by being apprehended

and imprisoned. Why do you ask?”

Elora, gaining courage from Azriel’s supportive presence, decided to come clean. She stepped forward, her voice steady yet filled with emotion. “Markus, I need to tell you my entire story.”

She began to recount her past, describing her life as Elora Black, born into a Beta family, discovering she was an Omega, and finding out she was mated to the Alpha’s son, who was her twin sister’s boyfriend. She detailed the betrayal, being framed and drugged by her sister, and left at the mercy of rogues. She explained how she was saved by Azriel, who was unaware of her identity at the time, and how she had to change her name to Lora Walsh to survive. She ends with the revelation that, despite everything, her original pack placed her on the terror list after she was rejected and banned from the pack, and left to die in the cold river.

Markus listened intently, his expression darkening with each revelation. By the end of her story, he was seething with rage. “I can’t believe Alpha Alex and Alpha Ben could be so unjust, nor that Luna Alena, a revered white wolf with such high status, could be so deceiving and cunning.”

Azriel placed a comforting hand on Elora’s shoulder. “We need your help to remove her from the terror list, Markus. She’s suffered enough. Despite her having a new identity now, I can’t believe that they abused the system for their own gain.”

Markus nodded, his face still tense with anger. “I understand, and I agree. Elora, you’ve been through more than anyone should have to endure. I’ll see to it that your name is cleared from the

terror list.”

Elora’s eyes filled with tears of relief and gratitude. “Thank you, Markus. You have no idea what this

means to me.”

Markus stood up, his presence commanding and resolute. “I’ll handle this personally. Alpha Alex and Alpha Ben will have to answer for their actions, and Luna Alena’s deceit will not go

unpunished.”

“I don’t want them to know that I am alive or about my identity!” Elora shouted in panic.

“No worries, Lora, your secret is safe with me. But the Alphas should be accountable for their actions and not to abuse their power. In my blindness, I never thought that this list could be used for personal vengeance as well, and I have the full intention to investigate its contents for everyone, and not only your former pack.” Markus added, enraged.

Azriel squeezed Elora’s hand reassuringly. “Thank you, Markus. Your support means everything to

us.”

Markus gave a nod, his expression softening slightly. “You both deserve peace and happiness. I’l make sure you get it.”

As they made their way out of the office, Markus spotted Asher standing beside Beta James. He paused, looking down at the boy with a proud smile. “So, this is your son, Azriel,” he said, his voice warm and approving. “Congratulations, my friend. He looks just like you, except for the eyes.”

Azriel beamed with pride as he ruffled Asher’s hair. “Thank you, Markus. He’s a good boy.”

Elora, standing beside Asher, felt a swell of gratitude towards Markus. “Thank you, Your Majesty.”

Markus knelt down at Asher’s level, his expression kind and gentle. “Hello, Asher. I’ve heard many great things about you. You can call me uncle Markus. You’re very lucky to have such wonderful

parents.”

Asher looked up at Markus with wide eyes, a shy smile spreading across his face.

After a few more moments of pleasant conversation, Azriel led Markus towards the exit. As they

walked, Markus’s expression grew serious. “Azriel, I need to ask you about your sister, Kaia. How is she doing?”

Azriel’s smile faded, replaced by a look of sorrow. “She’s still struggling, Markus. You know that

when she came of age, she found her fated mate at a ball, an Alpha of a small pack from Canada,

but he rejected her on the spot, saying the Moon Goddess made a mistake mating him with such a hideous woman. When he found out she was my sister, he tried to take back his rejection, but Kaia

told him to get lost and accepted his rejection. Since then, she’s withdrawn from everyone, feeling

ashamed of her looks.”

Markus frowned, anger flashing in his eyes. “That’s terrible. Kaia is a beautiful woman. A scar does

not define her worth.”

Azriel nodded, his jaw clenched. “I’ve told her the same, but she’s become a recluse, refusing to

communicate with people. She’s ashamed of her looks and feels unworthy. She never leaves her

room, barely venturing into the garden sometimes.”

Markus placed a reassuring hand on Azriel’s shoulder. “I understand. She’s been through a lot. But

she needs to know she’s valued and loved. Maybe we can find a way to help her heal. Maybe Lora

can help.”

Azriel sighed, appreciating Markus’s concern. “I hope so. She deserves happiness.”

Markus nodded, determination in his eyes. “We’ll find a way. No one should feel like they are less

because of a scar. Kaia is strong and smart. She can overcome this.”

With that, Markus turned to leave, but not before giving Azriel one last supportive look. “Take care,

Azriel. And take care of your family. I’ll handle the rest.”
