How Dare Your ?
How Dare You?-2
When Alena had told Alex she couldn’t resist the fated mate bond, Markus knew instantly that she
was lying. The realization hit him like a punch to the gut. He looked down at the woman who was hugging him tightly, his fists trembling with rage and disgust. The opportunistic glint in her eyes was unmistakable, and he saw how quickly she had switched her allegiance the moment a better
option presented itself.
Markus’s mind flashed to Lora’s story and what she told him, her suffering and strength, and he
realized with a sinking feeling that Alena was a woman without honor or true allegiance-her
loyalty extended only to herself and her own interests, being capable of sacrificing her own sister for her selfish desires and power. Her own flesh and blood! It was clear that her white wolf was the only honest part of her, struggling against the human counterpart who had pushed her aside and
disregarded her completely.
All the years Markus had waited and hoped for his mate were crushed in a few seconds. The sense of betrayal was overwhelming. He felt sick to his stomach and completely disgusted as he considered the implications of Alena’s deceit.
“Let go,” he commanded in a low, dangerous tone, his voice laced with barely contained fury.
Alena looked up, confusion and fear in her eyes as she released him. “Markus, what’s wrong?” she
asked, her voice trembling, while her eyes were watery.
Markus stepped back, his eyes cold and hard. “It is King Markus to you.”
The room fell into a stunned silence. Alex’s face contorted with a mix of shock and anger, while
Alpha Ben and his mate looked on in disbelief.
“Please, I…” Alena stammered, but Markus cut her off.
“Don’t,” he snapped. “You’re not my mate. You already have a mate who marked and mated you. There is nothing further to discuss on this topic.” His words were like a slap, and Alena flinched as
if struck.
As Markus turned to exit the room, Alena’s panic broke through her shock. She ran after him, tears
streaming down her face. “Markus, please, give me a chance!” she begged, her voice trembling
with desperation. “I feel our connection, I know it’s real! You are the one for me! Please, don’t
disregard the Moon Goddess’ decision.”
Markus stopped and turned to face her, his expression as cold and hard as a block of ice. Inside, his heart was shattering, and all he wanted to do was shout in pain and betrayal, but he maintained his composure. “There is nothing to discuss, Alena,” he said, his voice steady but devoid of

warmth. “You made your decision years ago without thinking to wait for your fated mate, and rew
I’ve made mine. The Moon Goddess can see in everyone’s heart and can decide on those who respect her decisions and on those who don’t.”
He took a deep breath, cleared his throat, and delivered the words that would sever their bond forever. “I, Markus Van Zwick, reject you, Alena Black, as my mate and queen.”
Alena fell to the floor, her sobs echoing through the room. “No! I won’t accept it! Please, give us a chance. Why are you so cruel to me!” she cried, her voice filled with anguish.
Markus’s eyes flashed with fury, and he released a murderous aura that made everyone in the room flinch. “You will accept the rejection if you know what’s good for you,” he said, his tone deadly serious. “You didn’t wait for me, so why should I consider you now? You already have a mate sitting next to you. Have some dignity and stick to your decision.”
Alena’s defiance crumbled under the weight of his words and presence. Realizing her failure, she nodded weakly, her voice trembling as she whispered, “I, Alena Black, accept your rejection.”
As soon as the words left her lips, the bond shattered, and she collapsed to the floor, screaming in agony as the pain of the broken bond tore through her.
Ex-Alpha Ben quickly released a mind link, summoning the pack doctor. Within moments, the doctor arrived and hurriedly assessed Alena. Seeing the severity of her condition, they swiftly
moved her to the clinic.
Markus watched, his face a mask of stoic resolve, as Alena was taken away. Inside, he was a
storm of emotions as he felt his heart and chest on fire, all that he wanted now was to kneel in pain and anguish, but he couldn’t afford to let them show. He turned to Alpha Ben, who met his gaze
with a look of deep sadness.
“Let’s postpone this meeting for a later time,” Markus said, his voice tight. “I must go now.”
Alpha Ben nodded solemnly. “We totally understand, Your Highness.”
With a last look in Alpha Alex’s direction, who was frozen like a statue, Markus walked away from
the Black Forest Pack, his heart heavy. He knew he had made the right decision, even if it had cost
him dearly. As he made his way back to his convoy, he steeled himself as he prayed to the Moon Goddess to ease his pain.
Just as Markus was about to leave, a tall man stormed in his direction, rage burning in his eyes. “How dare you hurt my daughter like this, king or not! You have no honor!” he shouted, his voice echoing through the pack grounds. The gathering crowd of pack members watched in shock, whispering among themselves.

Markus turned to face the man, recognizing him as Beta Black. Instead of anger, despite his pah, a
laugh erupted from Markus, deep and incredulous. The sound was so unexpected that it silenced
the murmurs of the crowd.
“How dare I?” Markus repeated, his voice dripping with irony.
