"Get cleaned up. I'll join you for dinner." Setting down the glass, he acted as if nothing had happened, adjusting his tie as he strode out of the room.

Staring at his tall, striking back, tears welled up in the girl's eyes.

By the time she dressed and went down to the dining room, the lighting was warm and soft, the table laden with an exquisite feast.
