Summer looked down to find the beast actually blinking up at her with puppy-dog eyes.
She cursed under her breath. How the hell did a woman like Lily Sutton end up raising such an adorable wolf?
It defied all logic.
Summer ended up taking Fang home.
Xavier didn't return that night, but still unnerved by everything, Summer locked her bedroom door anyway.
When she woke up the next morning and opened the door, she found the wolf sprawled out in the hallway, guarding her room.
At the sound of the door opening, Fang lifted his head, his eyes lighting up the moment he saw her.
He let out a soft, happy whine.
"Mom, I think I heard a doggie," Leo Sterling mumbled, rubbing his eyes as he stepped out of his room in his pajamas.
When he spotted Fang, his eyes widened in sheer wonder. "There really is a doggie! A huge doggie!"
He ran over and squatted in front of the wolf, tilting his head to study the creature with intense curiosity.
Fang mirrored the action, tilting his head to study the boy right back.
Leo gasped in awe. "Mom, he's so smart! He's copying me!"
It was obvious Leo had instantly fallen in love with Lily's wolf.
Summer looked at the ceiling and slapped a hand over her face in utter defeat.
What a complete mess.
"Mom, Mom, what's his name?" Leo tugged excitedly at Summer's hand.
"Fang."
It didn't take long for the boy and the wolf to start playing. Soon, the entire manor was echoing with the sound of a child's joyous laughter and the playful howls of a wolf.
Summer let them be. As long as Leo was happy, she didn't care.
It was rare to see Leo laugh so freely, letting his emotions out like a normal kid.
Normally, he was raised as the family's strict little heir. He was taught to hide his feelings, to be mature, gentlemanly, and impeccably mannered.
Because of that, he usually acted like a stiff, little old man.
