Chapter 201
What was that?” Edgar asked, his brows furrowed.
“That… was my darling future husband having an affair with one of his concubines,” Sophia said through her
teeth.
That whore will never give up. She will always shamelessly throw herself at him. Rage flooded through her so quickly that it almost made her dizzy.
Then, her eyes drifted to Edgar, a slow smile spreading across her features. She needed a plan… and she knew just the gamma to help her.
Cecilia’s POV
As promised to Jasmine and the others, I went into the concubine lounge to join them for tea later in the afternoon. I was surprised to see the lounge empty, though. I glanced around, a frown marring my lips, wondering where everyone had gone.
I had never seen it this empty before.
“Good evening, Cecilia,” one of the servants said as she walked towards me, a cup of tea in her hands.
“Good evening,” I greeted. “Where is everyone?”
“I believe they will be joining you shortly,” she replied. “I was told to give you this tea for your wait.”
I let out a breath as I took the tea, nodding my thanks to her as she retreated from the lounge. I found the entire ordeal a bit strange but brushed it aside and went over to one of the couches and took a seat.
I brought the cup of tea to my lips and took a sip. My brows furrowed at the taste as I pulled the cup away. it was… different.
I put the cup down on the coffee table, though something didn’t feel right.
The room tilted slightly; I stood quickly, about to make my way towards the bathroom, but lost my footing and had to hold onto the wall to steady myself.
Then, my skin started to burn.
“What is happening?” I whispered weakly.
Lora stirred uneasily beneath my skin.
Danger.
My breathing became uneven. Each inhale felt too warm, too thick… and suddenly my dress felt unbearably tight against my skin. I knew I needed to get some air before I completely passed out from lack of oxygen.
I pushed towards the lounge door, trying desperately to reach any door that led outside. I just needed to feel the fresh breeze and fill my lungs with clean air.
“Lady Cecilia?”
I looked up suddenly, a gamma stood a few feet away. He was large and broad, and his face was familiar. I’ve seen him around the palace plenty of times, though I have never actually spoken to him before.

“You don’t look well,” he said with a frown as he stepped closer to me. “Can I help you?”
Relief nearly made my knees buckle.
“Yes,” I breathed weakly. “I… I think something’s wrong.”
He stepped closer to me, reaching for my arm. The moment his hands touched me, Lora snarled. The sound echoed through me, almost escaping my lips; it startled me because she had never acted like that before. She was trying to say something… but through the fog of whatever was happening, I couldn’t seem to make out the words she was saying.
“Is something wrong?” the Gamma asked, his brows furrowing as he studied my face.
I pulled my arm away from him as if he had burned me.
“I just need to get some air,” I tell him.
For a moment, his eyes darkened, and an uneasy feeling fell upon me. He reached out again, taking a hold of my arm and pulling me closer to him, wrapping his other arm around my waist, keeping me pinned to him. In theory I knew he was only trying to keep me from falling, but Lora made it clear she did not want this man touching us.
“Let’s get you to bed,” he said as he started to pull me down the hallway, despite my weak attempt to break free from him.
He pushed through a door that I didn’t recognize. It was dark in this room, and the scent was unfamiliar. I wasn’t in a room I’ve been in before, and dread started to fill my stomach.
