The Bride He Took for Granted

Chapter 67

“Madam!”

Clara lifted Sharon’s upper body and called toward the door.

“Someone, hurry! Get a doctor… and notify Mr. White to come home.”

Sharon had not completely lost consciousness.

It was as if she were trapped in a terrifying nightmare.

A night of pouring rain.

An abandoned factory.

The recorder in her hand was soaked with cold sweat.

Footsteps echoed behind her, getting closer and closer.

There was nowhere left to run.

She knew she couldn’t escape.

With trembling hands, she pushed the recorder beneath a machine.

The next moment. a sharp slap struck her across the face, 13:12

Her cries for help broke apart…

“Madam!”

“Madam, wake up…”

Only when Sharon finally opened her eyes did Jane let out a quiet breath of relief.

But Clara’s words kept replaying in her mind.

She walked out of the villa in a daze.

Chloe hurried over.

“Jane, are you okay? Did they do anything to you?”

Jane shook her head blankly.

After checking that Jane was unharmed, Chloe opened the car door and helped her inside.

Just then, Elise called.

She said she still had some work to finish before she could go home.

Chloe told her she would take Jane straight back to Maplewood Estates.

But after hanging up, Jane suddenly said,

“Chloe… can you take me to Firefly Glow?”

She did not ask to see Elise.

Instead, she went to the front desk.

“Excuse me. I need to speak with Mr. Nash about something urgent.”

The receptionist was about to explain that appointments were required.

But then she noticed Jane’s pale face and the fear in her eyes.

Something serious had clearly happened.

After taking down Jane’s name, she immediately contacted Daniel.

Daniel stepped into the conference room and quietly approached Harold.

“Mr. Nash, a woman named Jane Brooks would like to see you.”

Harold looked up.

Where’s Elise?”

Daniel paused.

“Mrs. Brooks didn’t ask to see Ms. White. She specifically requested to speak with you.”

Harold was silent for a moment.

“Bring her up.”

Three minutes later, Jane arrived at Harold’s office.

“Mr. Nash, I’m sorry to bother you.”

Harold, who had been making coffee, set the cup down and

stood.

“It’s all right. Please, sit.”

Jane walked to the seating area, still holding the tissue she had used to wipe her tears.

But she didn’t sit.

Instead, she lowered her voice.

“I know I’m asking a lot of you today… but I truly don’t know who else I can turn to.”

Hagold remained quiet, waiting for her to continue.

Seeing that Jane was still standing, he stayed standing as well.

There was something calm and steady about him-something that made people instinctively feel they could rely on him.

“Only today did I learn what Daisy has been through.”

Jane’s voice broke.

“Her parents… they should have protected her. But instead, they hurt her.”

She wiped her eyes.

“And Landon… he hurt her too.”

Her fingers tightened around the tissue.

“I keep thinking… if I had known earlier, maybe I could have done something.”

She lowered her gaze.

“But now I don’t even know how to help her.”

After a moment, she looked at Harold.

“Mr. Nash, I know this is too much to ask.”

“But if Daisy ever needs help… if she ever finds herself in a

situation she can’t handle alone… could you please look out for her?”

Harold was quiet for a moment.

Then he answered.

“I will.”

Harold had first met Elise because of Laurel.

Over time, through work and their daily interactions, he had slowly come to know her.

They were not close friends.

But she was no longer just an employee to him.

Seeing Harold’s answer, Jane’s eyes immediately turned red again.

“Thank you.”

She bowed slightly.

“Thank you so much.”
