The Cold Surgeon's Contract Bride novel Chapter 108

I obviously couldn't tell him I desperately needed to use the toilet.

A cold scoff escaped the man's lips as he snarked, "What, looking to take a stroll around the inpatient ward for a romantic morning encounter?"

The more I listened, the more ridiculous he sounded. I stared at his sharp, handsome profile and fired back, "Then what are you doing here? Having a romantic morning encounter outside my room?"

Ferris froze, once again avoiding my gaze.

My stomach cramped painfully. Seeing Ferris standing there like a statue, I waited two seconds before saying, "If there's nothing else, please excuse me."

With that, I stepped halfway out the door, but Ferris refused to budge. For a moment, we were awkwardly wedged together in the doorway. When I glared up at him in annoyance, I saw a storm brewing in his dark eyes—a heavy, suffocating intensity like the ocean right before a hurricane.

His aura was naturally cold, but the aggressive way he stared down at me created an intimidating, unapproachable distance between us.

I had no choice but to wave the white flag. "I need to use the restroom."

Hearing that, the tension in the man's broad shoulders relaxed slightly. He sighed and said, "The room has an en suite."

Thanks to his reminder, I finally noticed I had been placed in a premium VIP suite.

Feeling incredibly awkward, I shuffled back to the bathroom.

Because I was still attached to the IV, I couldn't close the bathroom door completely. Peeking through the narrow gap along the tubing, I could faintly see Ferris's long, elegant fingers gripping the IV pole.

I never dreamed this day would come.

Ferris, my husband, standing in my hospital room at five in the morning, holding my IV pole.

All thanks to Zoey.

Snapping back to reality, I stepped out of the bathroom feeling depressed, entirely missing the small step by the threshold. In an instant, I lost my balance.

I crashed right into Ferris's chest.
