You're scrambling to rent an apartment and suddenly desperate to sleep in a separate bed. You wouldn't happen to have some other plans brewing, would you?"

Totally bewildered, I shot back, "What is that supposed to mean?"

"What is it supposed to mean?" Ferris's eyes dragged slowly down my body, lingering for a beat before returning to my face. "It's very simple. As long as you are Mrs. Sterling, you are expected to fulfill your marital duties. Understand?"

Our eyes locked. Only then did I realize he had been staring intently at my exposed neckline. I hurriedly reached up to pull my robe tighter, but his hand clamped around my wrist like a vice.
