"Pretreatment with phenytoin sodium," I responded smoothly, fighting through my physical discomfort. "A loading dose three hours prior to surgery, combined with dexmedetomidine for sedation."

I thought Ferris would drop the issue after I answered, but a second later, he asked, "What about during the wake-up period?"

He was clearly trying to make things harder for me.

But why? We were both from Capital General, so why was he pressing me so relentlessly?

I dug my nails into my palm to stay calm, mimicking what I had read. "During the wake-up period, target-controlled infusion with remifentanil can be utilized."

My words left everyone in the room looking surprised, Ferris included.

It made sense. While anesthetic dosages could be calculated using textbook formulas, coordinating the before-and-after of surgery required an anesthesiologist to rely on their own expertise and assess the patient's overall condition to formulate a tailored anesthesia plan. It wasn't something that could be simply copied out of a book.

So for an intern to devise a corresponding anesthesia plan in such a short amount of time naturally shocked everyone.

Ferris pushed up his glasses, his gaze turning somber as he continued his line of questioning. "Dr. Hayes has certainly thought this through. Then tell us, after watching the surgery for so long, what else have you noticed?"

I really couldn't hide anything from him. While the anesthesia plan could be replicated, the observations and insights into neurosurgery varied from role to role. Ferris was testing me from a different angle.
