The Cold Surgeon's Contract Bride novel Chapter 96

It was a blessing in disguise.

I glanced at Ferris, who had intentionally made things difficult for me just moments ago. He was neither smiling nor angry, maintaining his usual unbothered demeanor.

Zoey, however, was sitting next to him with her head lowered, looking utterly despondent.

Once the meeting ended, I immediately ducked into the restroom. After splashing cold water on my face, my muddled mind finally cleared up.

It was only then that I realized my back was completely drenched in sweat.

I had to slip into a stall to clean myself up.

Recalling Ferris's aggressive interrogation in the conference room left a bitter taste in my mouth.

He claimed to care about Capital General's reputation, yet he hadn't worried for a second that I might not be able to answer his questions, which would have made me a laughingstock in front of everyone and embarrassed our hospital.

Or did he genuinely believe I had purposely knocked over the water bottle Zoey offered, and wanted to teach me a lesson?

Had his feelings for her really reached the point where he couldn't separate his personal life from his professional one?

At that thought, it felt like someone had violently carved my heart open. A suffocating wave of despair washed over me.

This was completely different from the disciplined, dutiful Ferris I knew.

He felt like a total stranger.

Heh, thanks to him, a lowly intern like me had suddenly made a name for herself at this seminar.
