The Full Moon Comes

Anthony

He sat back down at his desk and returned to his e-mails. He knew there were many there waiting for him to get to, only to see that there was one glowing yellow as a warning to him that it was from an unknown wolf or pack to him. Mischa had encouraged him long ago to install the wolfen worlds alert system for all incoming wolfen communications to the pack.

When receiving an e-mail for the first time, one had to click on if the sender was affiliated, unaffiliated or had been severed from an alliance, or if they were an enemy pack. It was kind of like a red light system, red flagging meant from a known enemy pack, orange was from a severed but known pack, yellow from a fully unknown pack or wolf and green was flagged for allied or known non-threat unaffiliated packs.

He hovered the cursor over the e-mail and saw it was from Alpha Declan Talbot, and he just knew it was going to be the Alpha that Mischa was now aligned to. He didn’t know if he wanted to open that e-mail or not. Goddess only knows what was written in it. That it came from her new Alpha meant she either didn’t care to tell him what it was she wanted of him or this Declan wanted private words with him about something to do with Mischa, and she likely didn’t know he was contacting him.

That wouldn’t work in his favor. She didn’t like others making decisions for her. He wondered if he could send it to her after he read it to show her that Alpha was making decision for her without her knowledge. He was willing to bet she’d be mad at him about something like that.

Anthony clicked it open and read it, and nearly fumed at the way it was worded, a demand for him to go and sever his bond with Mischa, after the full moon, and he stated it was Mischa’s wish for him to do so. “I don’t bloody think so.” Anthony muttered; she’d vowed she’d never issue a rejection, and she’d left him without doing so. Which meant she wasn’t going to either.

Though this Alpha, Declan, stated his other Mate wasn’t welcome inside his pack, that he knew about all that had gone on, that bothered Anthony. Mischa was out there telling others about all that had happened inside this pack, between him and her, Christy even. He didn’t think she would do that, it would harm the pack’s reputation. But the way it was worded stated she had, and it was not very polite at all.

This Alpha was not asking him to come, he was informing Anthony that he had to come. Anthony wanted to send a reply that told him to shove it, he wouldn’t be made to do anyone’s bidding, if he didn’t want to go and reject Mischa, then he simply wouldn’t do it at all. No one could make him go down there and do that.

He copied that sss and sent it right to Mischa’s phone for her to see what her new Alpha was doing, added a message ‘I don’t think he’s honest with you, is doing things behind your back, and then he logged into the Wolfen intranet and looked up the Whispering Moon, and it’s Alpha to see if they were registered and what information he could find out about him before he responded to that e-mail at all.

It was fully registered with the Wolfen Council. This Alpha had been in charge of his pack for 20 years now. It was a newly formed pack, and from what he was seeing this Alpha had started his own pack. There was the registration date of the pack right there next to his name, as there was with all packs. It was something that was recorded along with their affiliated Wolfen Council as well.

Alpha Declan was registered with the North Dakota Alpha Council. That was odd to him because there was one much closer to where his pack was; there was actually one in his own state. That intrigued him quite a bit.

Anthony leaned back in his chair and thought about that. It could only mean that when he’d applied to Alpha College he’d attended the one in North Dakota. Again, odd unless this Alpha wasn’t actually from lowa in the first place, but had just opted to start a pack there was all. That made more sense to him.

So Alpha Declan Talbot had attended the very same Alpha College he had also attended, which meant that Alpha Dennis would know him as well. Anthony might just be able to get information from Alpha Dennis about Alpha Declan when he came. That could help him. He didn’t really want to go in blind. No one in their world liked doing that, it was never a good

thing.

He could see what the main business Alpha Declan ran was. It was listed right there next to the pack’s name, as it was for all packs. Risk Management of where pack placements were to go, and in the human world he also did risk management for human towns and resorts.

Then there was, to his annoyance, a full Wolfen Council tick of approval against that pack’s business, which told him the Wolfen Council themselves actually went to this Alpha for his main business as well.

Which also told him it was likely that Alpha Declan was more than well established, but he was going to be fully affiliated with the Wolfen Council, and not just the one that he attended but all the ones that dealt with any packs within the Midwest as well.

Which could be the Wolfen Councils in Tennessee and New Mexico as well. They might not technically be part of the Midwest, but some of those packs in the Midwest that were closer to them than other colleges would see Alpha’s heirs attend them instead of going states away for Alpha College.

This Alpha had connections everywhere in all likelihood. He sighed heavily and scrubbed a hand over his face as he realized for that very thing to happen; a full connection to the Wolfen Council. This Alpha had already been investigated by them and passed the test to become affiliated to the Wolfen Council.

He turned his attention back to the pack itself. There were no registered heirs to the pack, not even for the Alpha Unit, which meant Mischa was indeed carrying the true heir to his pack. He wasn’t about to let her walk away with that pup and Mischa’s stance was clear. She wasn’t giving up her pup to come back to him here in Night Whispers.

What wasn’t in any Alpha Council files were allied or enemy pack lists for all the packs, and that was something that he did want to know, but at the same time, he also knew that kind of knowledge wasn’t put out there for all to hear and see on purpose. Because that would just invite your unallied or enemy packs to all join together and attack you all at once.

Though he could now look it up on the map and see just where it was. He did that now and saw it was only a state and a half away. He put it into Google Maps and saw it was within the range of not causing an ache to one’s chest because of being separated from their Mate. He wondered if Mischa had asked Nicholas to do that on purpose or if Nicholas had thought about it himself and done that off his own bat, because he knew Mischa wasn’t going to reject him.

His life, it seemed, was starting to fall apart before his eyes. Mischa had moved away and was it appeared starting over anew, she’d sounded genuinely happy, not something he had to admit he’d heard in a long time. They’d once been on the same page as each other, saving this pack together, and now it was barely in the black once more and she was gone. She wasn’t going to be here to help him save it again, she had told him as much and he knew why deep down.

She’d told him she was to him a Luna on paper, that she was there to keep the pack in the black and nothing more, and she was no longer going to do that. It was very unlikely she would be the lead accountant in a well-established pack with full Council backing. That pack was likely quite wealthy and wouldn’t need her for that.

He looked at his phone and wondered if Mischa would even read the message from him. She’d not done previously. He sighed and picked his phone up and called her. It rang out just like it had done before, but that Alpha had answered her phone the last time, and he wondered if Declan was the one to have her personal phone all the time.

Maybe that was why she never answered the calls. Maybe Alpha Declan simply stopped her from doing so. If that was the case, then she was likely there against her will, which meant that he needed to go there and get her back for himself. This was turning into a nightmare. He didn’t know if she was under some order not to ask for help or if she’d been forcibly bled

to this Alpha.

He wondered as he put his phone back down if he was reaching, grasping at straws, because he didn’t want to believe that she’d really left him and did actually want him to go there and sever ties with her.

He didn’t understand her anymore, had clearly lost touch with who she was or who she’d turned into and so didn’t know what to believe anymore. His eyes moved back to that e-mail sitting there from Alpha Declan, and he felt pain touch him as he looked at the words ‘Mish’s wishes’ that was her shortened name, and not many used it, only those close to her.

He couldn’t decide on what to do. He had too much to do this week, that mating ball though he’d canceled for all the unallied packs, he’d extended invites to all his affiliated packs that had stayed allied to him, thinking Mischa would come home to him once he’d proved he’d saved the pack without her. Four allied Alpha’s had agreed to attend though he now had a feeling they were all only coming to see exactly what was going on.
