“There was this door.. looking like it was made of that crimson mist. It was unsettling and… it was…”
Vladmir yawned.
Sasha glared at him with a pinched gaze. “Are you listening to me?”
Vladmir sipped from his wine glass with a slack expression.
Sasha was irritated. Now that he was mute, he was sly, but she had no doubt that he was more frustrated than she was. “Aren’t you curious?” Pressing her fork to her lips, she asked.
Vladmir gave a nod. Yes, he was. A gateway arose out of nowhere inside the castle. Who wouldn’t be curious?
“Wonderful morning.” Danil gave a blank greeting as he walked into the dining hall.
The table was filled with enough food for the whole family. There was no occasion. It was only breakfast.
“Morning.” Sasha muttered.
Vladmir waved.
Danil sat down, helped himself, then shot a quick glance at his cousins. “You’re still dumb?” He asked Vladmir who sent him a glare.
Sasha chortled. Vladmir rolled his eyes.
“Wonderful morning everyone!” Excitedly, Yulia let out a whoop as she and Boris entered the room.
Boris’s countenance was evidently saying, ‘I don’t want to be here.’ It was Yulia who was pulling him in against his will.

“Morning beautiful,” Danil smiled at Yulia, who giggled in return. But then, his expression shifted to a frown as his eyes met with Boris’s. “Hello
there.”
Boris gritted his teeth. “Do not speak to me?!”
“Please. Can we have a perfect breakfast without unnecessary bickering?” Sasha inquired, defusing the situation somewhat.
Boris and Yulia took their seats.
“Mother and aunt Anastasia will not be at the breakfast. They are going to the city with Alina to do some charity work.” Danil spoke abruptly, his gaze fixed on his meal. “The insurgents caused significant damage. It is surprising that there isn’t any bad news today.”
Yulia started eating her meal with a confused expression on her face. “Do you think they stopped because they are scared of Nikolai?” she questioned.
“It’s possible. They are only rogues after all.” Sasha mumbled and looked to see Viktor walking in with a scroll in his hand.
“Good morning.” He said, a little smile playing on his lips,
“What’s that about?” Curious, Danil questioned.
Viktor took a seat, handed Danil the scroll. “Nikolai gave it to me. There are going to be many occasions. Which includes Ophelia’s coronation as Luna queen of Celestia.”
“Oh?” Danil questioned, his disapproving gaze twisting. He gathered the scroll and tossed it to Sasha, who easily caught it. “Neither the dragon nor my support for her becoming Luna interests me. Stability is all I’m after. She needs to establish her value.”
“Her value is not worth establishing. A dragon is not fit to be our Luna!

There are warriors dying on the front lines because of her!” Enraged, Boris snapped, shattering the butter knife in his hand.
Yulia lowered her eyes, pressed her lips. “I see no reason for her to not be our Luna.” She whispered. “Even though it is indeed strange for a dragon to be our Luna.”
Vladmir tightened his hold on the wine glass. Although he couldn’t have asked for a worse situation, something told him he shouldn’t disclose that Nikolai and Ophelia were destined to cross paths and reunite in this life. But why was fate working so heavily against them?
“We are powerless to change anything. But their union is ideal for bringing the dragons and our kind together.” Sasha clutched the scroll and murmured. “We are not at war with one another because of hatred. They are trapped in the midst due to power dynamics.”
Boris’s eyes opened at those comments, but he quickly ignored them and started eating his meal.
“Open it.” Danil said to Sasha, referring to the scroll.
“Celestia is set to undergo significant changes, which will affect both the structure and ourselves. I genuinely concur with Nikolai on the first point.” Viktor whispered, a slight smile on his lips again.
“It is a relief to hear that” Rhaziel muttered as he walked into the dining hall and sat down without saying anything further.
“What on earth is he doing here?!” Boris snapped angrily.
Sasha kept quiet. She was tired of launching into a ‘he is family‘ speech. All the same, Vladmir, Danil, and Yulia didn’t appear to be offended by his arrival. That information seemed to be well known to them already.
“It’s clear from your comments that you don’t have full faith in Nikolai. That’s astute.” Rhaziel went on, his dark eyes gleaming menacingly.

“Nikolai despises Celestia and feels that she is the reason for all of his suffering. Our desire to defend Celestia and our family also entails defending Celestia from Nikolai, the current ruler. Being a demon lycan, he is highly unpredictable.” Viktor explained himself with a frown. “Protecting our family also means protecting Nikolai.”
Rhaziel nodded, finding those words impressive. “I can now understand Ophelia’s belief that you are the true Beta. I hope you can all let Nikolai know your feelings towards him. Despite his disingenuous behavior, he is willing to go to any lengths to keep you safe. He developed that principle for that reason.”
“Only a Novikov can kill a Novikov.” Boris whispered, drawing everyone’s attention to him. He shook his head in disbelief, his eyes bulging with wrath. “Ridiculous! Preposterous! He only created that in order to hold the exclusive ability of murdering us! That is his revenge on us for abandoning him when we knew deep within that he was suffering! Alexander’s death served as proof of that.”
Sasha’s eyes widened. “Boris, you…”
“Enough!” Boris snarled and rose up.
Danil narrowed his eyes on him. “There you are again. Alexander deserved to die. If Nikolai had not killed him, I would have killed him myself. He killed his own son for goddess sake!”
Viktor inhaled deeply. “Stop it. You two.”
“Sit down, brother.” Yulia whispered, her pleading eyes tearing up.
Boris looked at her with widened eyes. “Yu.. Lia.”
“Please.” She whimpered with a slow nod.
Boris sat back on his chair and lowered his head.

Rhaziel stared at the lycan in complete shock before smirking coldly. “Good grief.”
“You seem to be having fun, demon.” Danil tsked with displeasure.
Rhaziel shook his head. “Trust me when I say I am not.”
“Hmm.” Danil rolled his eyes and went back to eating his food.
Vladmir, meanwhile, was fixating on Rhaziel with unwavering intensity. Every time the demon showed up at his sight, he couldn’t help but wonder what was always going through his thoughts. He was always around Nikolai; how did it make him feel? Was his head always filled to the brim with memories? Was there anything, any guilt?
Unexpectedly, Rhaziel caught his eyes and sharpened his eyes.
Vladmir averted his gaze at once.
“He.. llo.” Lev entered the dining room with a lethargic demeanor. He was barefoot, with disheveled hair, and still wearing his sleeping garments. It appeared as though he had just awoken from a protracted, dull sleep.
“Lev?” Sasha instantly stood up, thrusting the scroll towards Vladmir’s chest and ran to the golden dragon.
Vladmir choked, holding the scroll shakingly.
Danil bursted into laughter. “Poor dumb Vlad.”
Vladmir sent him a glare but Danil only laughed even more.
Sasha took hold of Lev’s arm and fixed him with an intensely troubled look. “Are you alright?” She was taken aback by his visit to the dining hall, which was somewhat distant from his room. Why did he come in here as soon as he awoke from his slumber?
Lev shook his head. He was also baffled as to why he had entered the
