Dominik’s gaze flickered. “I do not want you to think of me as an angel of light. Please do not take me for that. The princess is the only reason I am here. My hatred for you dogs remains unabated.”

Yakim grinned, amazed at the boldness.

“You believe you are a hero, do you not?” Sasha, who had been listening in, entered the room smiling.

Dominik shifted his glaring eyes to her. “I am glad to have met you, Sasha Novikov.” And he made a small bow that made Sasha laugh.

“Dragons are so charming, are they not?” Angling her gaze down to his feet, she asked. He exuded an immensely potent aura and had a powerful physique. So this was the warrior general of Fireria. “You may depart. The princess is not here. Or are you here for, something else?”

Dominik smiled, a tiny smile belying his discontent. “Could making this place a battlefield be considered disrespectful?”

Shrugging her shoulders, Sasha giggled. “Doing something so stupid. It is only something a coward will do.”

Dominik laughed, finding her remarks impressive. “I am going to leave you now, Sasha Novikov. You truly are as graceful and lovely as they say.” With an intense look, he looked down at her and turned to leave.

Sasha kept an eye on him until he disappeared into the castle. She was making her way back to the ballroom when she noticed Yakim heading towards the courtyard. He appeared to be quite disturbed.

Such a conversation was not what she had anticipated. In all honesty, Sasha found Dominik cunning and manipulative, regardless of how gullible he appeared to be.

“You definitely have a way with words.” Yakim said abruptly, bringing her gaze to him. “You remind me more of Albert than your brothers.”

Sasha offered a small smile. “That demise. It was not something he deserved.”

Yakim forced a smile and lowered his head. “Could you please tell me the information I need…?”

“It is best if you stay out of the way. Believe me.” Sasha said to him. She was aware of Yakim’s feelings. Anguish caused by losing a loved one. His brother. “I shall take my leave now.”

And she turned to leave.

“Sasha!” Viktor’s panicked voice erupted behind her.

She turned in the direction of Yakim to see Viktor racing towards them down the hallway. His face was distorted with fear, and the chilly air complemented the tense mood perfectly.

Sasha took a step forward. “Viktor?”

Breathing heavily, he stopped directly in front of her. “Danil is nowhere to be found, but his presence is still evident in the room!”

Sasha’s expression darkened. She turned to face Yakim, who was looking at her with intense curiosity. “Please stop the ball in an appropriate and composed manner.”

Yakim nodded, restraining his curiosity. “I will.”

Glancing back at Viktor, Sasha held his hand and the two of them disappeared from view, emerging in Danil’s room.

Even with the windows closed, the pitch–black room was freezing, and reverberated with the whistling of a bitter wind.

It gave a jittery feeling.

Sasha slowly let go of Viktor’s hand, squinting at the bed. “I sense a presence…. She trailed off, her head cocked in confusion. “It is Danil but…”

Viktor tried to control his nerves. He balling his fists, glaring at the bed. “But what, Sasha?”

Her forehead wrinkled deeply in worried lines. “He is not here. But.. An odd presence still lingers, as if something had awakened before he left.”

“Awakened?! What exactly do you mean by “awakened?” Viktor inquired, puzzled.

Sasha returned his stare, her lips pursed. “I do not know either, but it seems like he disappeared into thin air, leaving his remnants dispersed like dust throughout this room. Something akin to the red mist permeates his

presence.”

Viktor’s gaze quirked. “What? Sasha, that mist was a god, a divinity. What do you…”

“I don’t know!!” Sasha jerked her gaze, focusing on their emerald–hued, wolf–like form. She glared at Viktor angrily. “You have no idea how afraid I am at the moment! What if he is seriously hurt?! I have already lost my father, and I do not want to lose anyone else!”

To calm her down, Viktor took her by the shoulders and gave her a gentle shake. “Look at me. You will not be losing anyone! I will make certain of it.”

Sasha gazed at him, her eyes widened. “You…”

Viktor sighed, pulling in an embrace. “I will admit that when Nikolai killed Tiana, I was scared. I did not cry over her passing because we were not close, but it still hurt so much. And there was always this emptiness in this family after Nikolai was sent to Nexus. Cold and hollow, it begged to be filled. Did we not grow accustomed to it?”

Viktor nodded, smiling. “Let’s find him.” With that, they parted ways and turned to face the bed.

“Did you know that the Firerian dragon was here?” Sasha asked, reaching out to touch the bed.

“Yes. He had come to see Artem.” Viktor responded solemnly.

Sasha pursed her lips. “He is really peculiar.”

“You find everyone peculiar. The only dragons you like are Ophelia and Lev.” Viktor mumbled.

“Is that a bad thing?” A burst of emerald light shot from Sasha’s hand, aimed directly at the bed.

Almost immediately, a lavender glow surrounded the bed, acting as a force field that pushed them away from it.

Breathing heavily, they held their ground.

“This is the summoning spell of a mage.” Sasha took a deep breath.

Viktor balled his hand. “Why would a mage summon Danil?”

Sasha embraced herself with her arms crossed over her chest. “Perhaps he slept with one?”

Viktor chuckled. “We need to find him.”

Glancing at him, Sasha pressed her lips. “What if there is no actual threat to him? He is quite capable of defending himself.”

It was only natural to be concerned. She was concerned. But now Viktor seemed to be hiding something.

“I am sorry, I just…” With a moment of silence, Viktor met her gaze. Lowering his eyes, he inhaled deeply.

Sasha took a step closer to him. “Does this have anything to do with the strange presence and awakening?”

“We must find him.” Viktor repeated himself, looking more serious.

Sasha gave a tense nod, swallowing hard. “Okay.”

Vladimir strolled through the empty ballroom, his gaze fixed on the chandeliers as he fiddled with the small silver dagger between his fingers. He could only smile at the amazing tranquility as his eyes effortlessly reflected the lights.

Regretfully, he was now growing accustomed to having his peaceful moments erased into oblivion. And this was confirmed when, from behind him, a dense red mist materialized, transforming into Valerian.

The sight of the blood moon god sent a sharp shudder down the seer’s spine. He whirled to look him in the eye and threw the dagger.

“So jumpy.” Valerian laughed and caught the dagger by its sharp edge. “You have terrible aim.”

Vladimir composed his quivering body by taking a deep breath. “Wh…why are you in this place?”

“That is not the proper way to express gratitude. How rude.” Valerian stared at the dagger, a taunting smile on his face.

“Gratitude?” Vladimir asked, his eyes twitching.

“I returned your voice, remember? I do not need your gratitude, though. Remember that deal we made?” Valerian asked as he approached him with a long stride.
