215 A brother’s hate

“Pain?” The sight of the guardian beast startled Ophelia. Compared to his

normal form, he was larger and stronger, capable of carrying two people on

his back.

“Ophelia.” Came a familiar voice.

Ophelia tensed up, fully aware that she had been shoved by Pain in an attempt to save her, only to have a stranger save her.

She lifted her head slowly to meet his face. However, her gaze first met his eyes. One was completely red, resembling a blood moon god’s, and the other was blue, resembling a wolf.

“Danil?!” Ophelia was utterly shocked.

A shadow fell over his face. “This is not the reaction I was expecting.”

“Well, your eyes.” Ophelia pointed to his face.

Danil’s lips quirked up. “Ignore it, princess.” And he helped her to her feet.

“What are you doing here?” She questioned as a dagger materialized in her

hand once more.

Tearing his gaze away from her, Danil narrowed his eyes at the spirit, who was now fully engulfed in flames. She had lost her legs and appeared to be floating. However, the fire tentacles did reveal that she was a very real

threat.

Dragons were creatures impervious to flames, but her flames could still kill

them.

“To protect you from that.” Danil answered.

Ophelia could not believe what she was hearing and seeing. Danil was the

furthest thing from her mind! And the worst thing about all of this was that, compared to a mortal, he exuded a far more distinct aura.

He also had the presence of a blood moon god!

“Is something wrong with you?” She had to ask.

Danil gave her an expression of total incredulity. “Are you really asking that question right now?”

Ophelia squinted at him. Instantly, she was behind Pain, who was getting ready to fight the spirit.

Breathing deeply, she stroked his fur. “Calm down, Pain; we do not want you to destroy the mansion. At least not just yet.” She told him in a soothing

tone.

The guardian beast reverted to his normal self, purring as Ophelia petted

him.

“How dare you mock me?!” The spirit was deeply offended. But she was even more irritated when Ophelia paid her no attention. “Ophelia Viadislav!”

Ophelia snapped her golden reptile eyes at her with unwavering lethality. “It is Ophelia Novikov, you wretch!”

“Ha!” Danil laughed, impressed by her retort

Suddenly, the spirit realized he was there and turned to face him, only to discover he was standing directly in front of her, very close, and grinning mischievously.

“Hello, sweetie,” Danil clamped down on her neck, feeling her flames causing him no pain. He cackled with laughter at the horrified look on her face.

“You are merely a child! You were only created 400 years ago!”

Ophelia was in complete disbelief as she observed this. “Only 400 years?

Danil tightened his hold around the spirit’s neck, rendering her motionless. She was unable to move, speak, and alter her horrified expression.

However, her vision and hearing were crystal clear.

“Indeed, she is.” he answered.

Ophelia straightened up. “I do not think I comprehend.”

“She was created on the sun star eclipse 400 years ago, dragoness; she is not supposed to exist.”

Ophelia shook her head. “No, no, no. You have to be kidding about that.”

“Why?” Danil raised a brow.

“I was born on the sun star eclipse 400 years ago.” Ophelia revealed, clenching her fist.

“You’re a century older than Nikolai?!” Danil’s eyes grew wide in surprise.

“That is not the point!” Ophelia snapped and pointed at the spirit. “Tell me what the hell is going on!”

“A god created this spirit. To be precise, a fire god.” Danil answered, glaring at the spirit with absolute indifference.

“You are a blood moon god.” Ophelia muttered, her gaze hesitantly fixed on

Danil.

“I and Viktor, but who cares?” Danil smirked.

“This spirit is hellbent on killing me. If this fire god created her, it means he wants to kill me. But, why have I not met her before?” Ophelia was finding it difficult to accept what was happening to her.

Danil felt sorry for her. “It is obvious that he picked this convenient moment to kill you.”

Danil’s expression darkened. “What?”

“What if that fire god did something to him? I will never forgive myself if something bad happens to him!” She panicked, her gaze darting around the hall.

Danil sighed deeply, shaking his head. “Are you in favor of me killing her?”

“Not until I find my brother and defeat this fire god who believes he can control my life.” Swearing, Ophelia stormed from the room, Pain trailing closely behind.
