Esmeralda looked up at the huge crescent moon, sighing as she fondled her bow. The knot of fear in her stomach tightened. A fear triggered by the unknown person holding the moonstone.

Esmeralda came across the stairs, which undoubtedly led up to Danil Novikov’s chambers.

“You are going to the blood moon god’s chamber.” Rhaziel’s eyes blazed with rage, his gaze smoldering with a dark, possessive energy that sent shivers down her spine and raised goosebumps on her skin.

“W..what…” Esmeralda was startled. She cleared her throat, blinking rapidly. “What if I am? He knows where the moonstone is, and I will do whatever it

takes to get it.”

Rhaziel clenched his teeth. “By letting him claim you?”

Esmeralda parted her lips, wanting to respond, but she was too shocked and confused to say anything.

He tightened his grip on her arm.

her arm.

“Nikolai is my younger brother.” Rhaziel spoke abruptly, raising his head, his eyes heavy with sadness.

Esmeralda gulped. “Do we have to talk here?”

Rhaziel’s smile was faint. “No.”

Once inside her room, Esmeralda went to her bed and gently patted the blanket, inviting him to take a seat beside her.

Rhaziel approached her hesitantly and sighed deeply as he sat down next to

her.

“So…” She shifted her attention to him. “Nikolai is your brother. That clarifies your intense protectiveness toward him.”
