Esmeralda sat silently beside Ophelia, her eyes focused on her friend’s serene face.
“Lia..” She felt her anxiety gnawing at her throat like a persistent whisper.
Hesitantly, her attention drifted to the dark night sky outside, where stars twinkled like diamonds against the inky blackness.
The moon’s absence was a vivid reminder that Vladmir’s control over
Celestia remained unbroken.
“Oh, I can’t believe this.” Esmeralda’s thoughts swirled with unease. The world was still celebrating from the end of the eternal winter, but she felt no joy, only a hollow sense of dread.
After settling Ophelia into a comfortable slumber, Esmeralda retired to her own chambers, where her maids assisted her in changing into a delicate sleeping dress.
As they departed, Esmeralda’s older brother, Thane, entered the room, his onyx eyes glinting with a subtle intensity amidst the warm glow of the chamber’s lights. He offered a respectful bow, and Esmeralda rose to greet him, her movements elegant.
“Sister,” Thane said, his deep voice low and soothing.
Esmeralda approached him, her expression probing. “What brings you here? I was preparing to rest,” she said, her voice hushed, the exhaustion of her thoughts on Celestia evident in her tone.
Rhaziel’s face suddenly flickered in her mind’s eye, and her thoughts
snapped into focus on him. A warm smile spread across her face as excitement blossomed in her heart.

Thane’s expression turned grave, “The Light Fairy Queen was slain by a vampire. If anything befalls the light fairies, you should know that our balance will be disrupted, and we will be forced to declare war on the vampires.”
Esmeralda’s sigh was heavy with the weight of responsibility. She threaded her fingers through her hair, her eyes clouded with concern. “We have no desire to entangle ourselves with the vampires. The Light Fairy Princess, Thea Rallis, will assume the throne, but if she seeks our aid, we will
intervene.”
Thane nodded, his head bowing in obedient acceptance. “As you wish,”
“Thank you.” Esmeralda’s smile widened.
A faint smile flickered on Thane’s lips as he placed a reassuring hand on his sister’s shoulder. “Are you troubled by the events unfolding in Celestia?”
Esmeralda sighed heavily with a mix of emotions. It was unsettling to acknowledge that her siblings, who had opposed her for most of her life, were now warming up to her simply because she wore the crown. “Yes,” she admitted, her voice barely above a whisper.
She placed her hand on Thane’s, a gentle gesture that spoke volumes. “But I’m more concerned about a certain demon,” A hint of a smile played on her lips as she climbed onto her bed, her eyes sparkling with amusement. “Who knows? Perhaps he’ll be your king someday.”
Thane’s face froze, his eyes widening in stunned surprise. But he quickly recovered, letting out a forced laugh that sounded more like a croak. With a hasty bow, he retreated from Esmeralda’s chamber.
Boris stared at the sunstone in his grip, its radiant light dancing across his eyes as he lazily fiddled with it while reclining on his bed. But his fascination was short–lived, as a deep frown etched his face. He sprang to

his feet, his movements abrupt, and deposited the stone into the drawer, slamming it shut.
“She brought me here because she thinks I’m a coward,” A low, menacing hiss escaped his throat as he drove his fingers into his hair, his chest heaving with ragged breaths.
Tears pricked at the corners of his eyes, and his mind was beset by memories of Yakim, Tiana, and Yulia – the people he had grown up with, and thought he had known.
“Mo..mother,” Boris’s voice cracked as he poured out his pain. “She always favored Nikolai, always defended him, no matter what. And I… I’m her son, but she neglected me, took my sister away from me… all this time!”
His words dissolved into ragged sobs, his body shaking with the force of his emotions. He struggled to catch his breath, his chest heaving.
Just as he thought he couldn’t bear anymore pain or drama, a low, familiar voice filled the room. “The Blood Moon will remain active for only three hours, and one hour has already passed.”
“What?” Boris’s head jerked up, his eyes locking onto the figure standing in
the entrance.
“Good day to you,” Dominik’s stoic expression revealed nothing, but his piercing eyes seemed to bore into Boris’s very soul.
Boris’s instincts kicked in, and he sprang to his feet, his eyes narrowing. “Who are you?” he demanded, his voice firm, as he hastily wiped away his
tears.
Dominik’s expression twisted in disdain. “You don’t…” He trailed off, a sigh escaping his lips. “Never mind. I sensed the sunstone’s presence, and it led me to you. Do you happen to have it in your possession?”
Boris’s eyebrow arched. “And if I do?”

Dominik’s eyes narrowed. “I don’t want to play games with you. You’re a dog, just like your family. I need that stone to calm what’s mine.”
The lycan’s laughter was a low, mocking sound. “You think you can speak to me like that, insult my family, and expect me to… what? Grovel?”
His eyes flashed with a sharp, red glow, and Dominik stumbled backward, his gasp echoing through the room. “You have magic?”
“My mother’s a witch, what do you expect?” Boris shook his head, a wry smile twisting his lips. “I’ve always hated magic, so I kept mine hidden.”
As he spoke, his fingers ignited with a fierce, red spark, as if the very mention of magic had awakened it. “Do you know my happiest memory of my family?”
Dominik’s eyebrow arched. “Am I supposed to care?”
Boris’s chuckle was slow, his head shaking gently. “When Nikolai revealed his plans for the Alpha lords… he has grand ambitions for Celestia, despite the fact that he despises the kingdom for what we did to him.” His voice was grave with a mix of emotions – nostalgia, regret, and a hint of admiration. “I want to go home.”
“What are you talking about?!” Dominik’s sigh was heavy with exhaustion, his body language screaming frustration. He pushed his head back, his bloodied hands leaving smudges on his forehead. It was then that Boris noticed Dominik’s appearance – his clothes were torn, his skin smeared
with blood.
“How exactly did you end up here?” Boris asked. His body began to shift, his wolf form emerging as his claws extended.
Dominik’s smirk was a faint smile. “I broke free from my chains and… eliminated the guards. It wasn’t easy, but I managed.”
