Chapter One Hundred Eight
Clases
The silence that followed Diana’s words stretched-heavy, final. Then Talon straightened. Decision settled into his posture like armor.
“We leave tonight.”
His voice was calm. Firm. Final. Enzo immediately stepped forward. “Then we prepare the warriors-”
“No.” The word cut through the room. Sharp.
Enzo froze. So did Galvin.
Talon’s gaze moved between them.
“Only Diana and I are going.” That landed. Hard.
“No,” Enzo said instantly, shaking his head.
“Alpha, that’s not happening.”
Galvin crossed his arms, jaw tightening.
“You’re walking into the Rogue Kingdom.” A pause.
“Into his territory.”
He didn’t need to say Damon’s name.
They all knew.
“And after everything that happened?” Enzo added, voice sharpening. “After what he did to Willow?”
Another step forward.
“You’re not going there alone.”
Talon didn’t move. Didn’t react. But his aura shifted slightly. Controlled. Dominant. “I’m not asking.”
“That’s the problem,” Galvin shot back. “You’re not thinking like an Alpha-you’re thinking like a brother.”
That hit. The room tightened. But before Talon could respond – Diana stepped in. Diana moved between them slightly-not blocking, but redirecting. Her voice was calm. Grounded.
“Enough.” Both Enzo and Galvin went silent.
Not because they agreed. But because they listened. Diana looked at them-really looked at them.
“I understand why you want to come.” A pause. “You’re not wrong.”
Their expressions didn’t soften. But they listened.
“But you also know the situation we’re in,” Diana continued. Her tone sharpened slightly.
“We were just attacked. Not randomly. Not accidentally.”

A step closer.
“We were targeted.”
That changed the weight of the conversation. Diana continued.
“And now we know there’s someone behind it. Someone powerful enough to control feral rogues.”
Silence.
Clauft
“If that someone decides to strike again while Talon and I are gone…” Her eyes hardened. “What happens to the pack?”
Neither Enzo nor Galvin answered. Because they knew. Dianà pressed on.
“All of our strongest warriors need to be here.” Her gaze moved between them.
“You are not just warriors. You are the Beta. The Gamma.” A pause. “The backbone of this pack.”
That landed deeper than anything else.
“If something happens while we’re gone,” she continued, “they need you here. To lead. To protect. To hold the pack together. Until we come back.
Enzo exhaled slowly. Frustration still there. But now-tempered. Galvin looked away briefly. Thinking.
Diana softened slightly.
“This isn’t about trust. It’s about responsibility.”
A pause.
“And right now…”
Her voice steadied.
“Your responsibility is here.”
Silence. Long. Heavy. Then- Enzo nodded once. Reluctantly. “…Fine.”
Galvin followed, slower. “…We stay.”
But his eyes lifted to Talon.
“And you come back.”
Talon met his gaze.
“I will.”
Another pause.
“And if anything feels off,” Enzo added, voice firm again, “you don’t play hero.”
A pointed look.

“You come back.”
Talon didn’t argue.
Didn’t deflect.
“Understood.”

That was enough. Within the hour- they were gone. The night had fully settled over the forest as Talon and Diana crossed the borders of Black Howler No ceremony. No announcement. Just quiet departure. They chose to drive. Faster over distance. Less predictable than running in wolf form across open territory. The road stretched ahead- dark. Endless. Silent. For a while- neither of them spoke. Then Diana
broke it.
“You’re too quiet.”
Talon kept his eyes on the road. “I’m thinking.”
“About Damon?” she asked.
A pause.
“About everything.”
That was more honest. Diana didn’t push. But Artemis stirred faintly beneath her calm. Watching. Listening. Hours passed. The forest thickened around the road. Shadows deepened. And then- something shifted. Talon felt it first. A prickle. At the back of his neck. Diana straightened slightly in her
seat.
“You feel that?”
Talon nodded once. “They’re here.”
No hesitation. The car swerved- just slightly- as Talon accelerated. Then- they came. From the trees. From the shadows. From everywhere at once. Feral rogues. Snarling. Eyes wild. Bodies twisted by something unnatural.
“They tracked us,” Diana said sharply.
“No,” Talon corrected, jaw tightening. “They were waiting.”
The first one lunged- straight at the car. Talon didn’t slow. Impact. A sickening thud as the rogue was thrown aside- but more followed.
“They’re herding us,” Diana said, eyes narrowing. “They want us to stop.”
“Then we don’t stop.” Another rogue slammed against the side of the vehicle.
Then another. The car shook violently. Diana’s hand tightened on the door.
“We won’t outrun them forever.”
