Chapter One Hundred Eighteen
Clam
“And you do not have to be smug or a disrespectful bastard about it, Rogue King.” Diana’s voice was not loud. It didn’t need to be
The fury in it-cold, controlled, and unmistakable-cut through the room far sharper than any shout ever could. Every head turned to her. Even Talon stilled beside her. Because this- This was not the tired, recovering Luna lying in a hospital bed. This was a queen. And she was angry. Diana pushed herself slightly more upright despite the weakness in her body, her eyes locking onto Damon with unrestrained intensity.
“If I remember correctly,” she continued, her tone edged with something dangerously close to ice, “my Alpha and I still treated you with respect when you came into our pack unannounced.” Her gaze did not waver. “And how did you repay that, Rogue King?”
The title dripped from her lips with deliberate emphasis. Not respect. Mockery. A challenge. Damon flinched. Barely. But it was there. Because every time she said it, it felt like a strike. Not of claws. But of truth.
“You repaid it,” Diana went on, her voice sharpening, “by emotionally hurting Willow-my Alpha’s sister.”
Her eyes flicked briefly to Willow, then back to Damon.
“And you were not even content with that.” The room grew heavier. Denser. “And when Willow was attacked,” Diana said, her voice dropping lower, more dangerous, “and you finally accepted within yourself that she is your mate…” A beat. “You forced her to come with you.” Her fingers curled slightly against the sheets.
“You did not give her a choice.” Another pause. “You did not give her the chance to say goodbye to her family.” Silence. No one moved. No one spoke. Because every word she said- Was true. Damon said nothing. Could say nothing.
“And might I remind you…” Diana continued, her gaze never leaving his, “Rogue King.” This time, the title hit harder. More deliberate. More pointed.
“Willow is still part of our pack.” Her voice grew firmer. “Talon and I are still her Alpha and Luna.” Another
pause.
“I do not see her mark on you.” Her eyes flicked briefly over him. “I do not smell her fully claimed scent on you. Or your scent on her.” A beat. “And I have certainly not attended a Luna ceremony declaring Willow as your Luna.”
The weight of her words pressed down on everyone in the room.
“If we wanted to,” Diana said calmly, though the threat beneath it was unmistakable, “we could order Willow to return to the Royal Pack.”
Talon didn’t move. Didn’t interrupt. But the air around him shifted slightly. Agreeing. Supporting. Standing with her.
“The hell with the alliance,” Diana added, her voice unwavering. “And Willow would not have a choice but to follow that order.”

Her gaze sharpened again. “Because we are stilther Alpha and Luna.”
A beat. Then her tone changed. Softer. But no less powerful.
Claim
“So I suggest, Rogue King…” She leaned back slightly against the pillow, though her eyes remained fierce.” …you show my Alpha the respect he deserves.” A pause.
“I know this is your territory.” Her voice lowered. “But I am injured. And my Alpha is worried about me.”
Her gaze softened just a fraction-only for a moment-as she glanced at Talon. Then it hardened again as it returned to Damon.
“You know that feeling, don’t you?” A quiet beat. “The feeling of your mate being in danger.”
Silence followed. Heavy. Unavoidable. Damon stood there. Still. For the first time since entering the room, he had no edge. No sarcasm. No defense. Only the full weight of what Diana had said pressing down on him. Because she was right. Every word. Every accusation. Every truth. He looked at her. Then at Talon. Then at Willow. And for the first time- his gaze faltered. Shame. Real. Undeniable. He lowered his head slightly. A breath left him slowly. Then another. And when he finally looked up again- the arrogance was
gone.
“You are correct… Luna.” The words came out steady. But not easy.
“I am acting like a disrespectful bastard.” A pause. “Not just to a visiting ally…” His eyes shifted to Talon.”… but to the Alpha King.”
Then back to Diana. “And to the Luna Queen.” Another breath. “And to the family of my mate.” His jaw tightened slightly.
“And for that…” A pause. “I apologize.”
The room remained quiet. No one rushed to respond. No one softened the moment. Because apologies like this- Didn’t need interruption. Damon continued.
“My Beta and I will leave you. So you could rest, Luna”
His tone was respectful now. Measured. He turned slightly toward the healer.
“Alpha, the one treating the Luna is the best in our pack.” His voice carried quiet authority. “She will make her, her priority.”
The healer nodded immediately. Understanding. Respecting. Damon looked back at Talon.
“Alpha King,” he said, his tone firm but respectful now.
“If you need anything…” A small pause. “You only need to ask.” His gaze flicked briefly to Willow. “Or inform Willow.” Then back to Talon.
