The Silver Wolf (Diana and Talon) novel Chapter 143

Chapter One Hundred Forty Three

Elder Garrick allowed the silence to linger after Rafe’s testimony. The entire hall had become unnaturally quiet. Every Alpha… Every Luña… Every Beta… Every Gamma… Waited Finally, Elder Garrick turned toward Talon.

“Alpha King.”

His voice echoed through the ceremonial hall.

“You have heard the testimony of the former Beta of Crimson Fang. Do you have a response?”

Every eye shifted toward Talon. Fenrir stirred inside him. He wanted to expose Rafe. He wanted to tear apart every lie the former Beta had spoken. Talon slowly stood. He did not rush. He did not allow his emotions to control him. Instead, he looked around the hall, making eye contact with every Alpha present.

“Yes.”

His voice was calm.

“I do. I want everyone gathered here today to hear what truly happened in Crimson Fang.”

The room became completely silent. Even Rafe stopped breathing for a moment. Talon clasped his hands behind his back.

“As all of you know… I traveled through every allied territory searching for my fated mate.”

Several Alphas nodded. It had been well known throughout the kingdoms. The Alpha King had visited nearly every allied pack before finding his Luna.

“I found her…” His eyes drifted toward Diana. “…inside Crimson Fang territory.”

His expression softened. “I found her fighting rogues.”

Several wolves nodded again. That much had been made public. But Talon continued.

“She wasn’t fighting beside anyone.”

His voice became proud.

“She was alone. And she wasn’t fighting in wolf form.”

Confused murmurs spread through the audience.

“I found my mate fighting rogues…… in her human form.”

Gasps erupted throughout the hall.

“What?”

“Human form?”

“Without shifting?”

Even some of the Elders looked surprised. Asher slowly lowered his head. He remembered that day vividly. He remembered arriving late. He remembered seeing Diana standing among the bodies of dead rogues. Covered in blood. Still holding her swords. Still refusing to fak

Talon allowed everyone to absorb the information. Then he continued.

“After the battle… I mated my mate. I do not think I have to elaborate on how I did it?”

Some Elders, clear their throat and then nodded. Talon’s eyes briefly met Diana’s.

“The following morning…”

His voice darkened.

“I left Diana inside her cabin to recover. Only for fifteen rogues to attack her.”

A collective gasp spread through the hall.

“They entered Crimson Fang territory. They found her cabin. They poisoned her with wolfsbane.”

Talon’s jaw clenched. His emotions became visible.

“I nearly lost her.”

His voice cracked slightly.

“If I hadn’t returned when I did…”

He couldn’t finish.

Diana reached for his hand. Her fingers gently intertwined with his. The contact immediately calmed both

Talon and Fenrir.

Artemis smiled quietly inside Diana’s mind.

“Our mates still panic whenever they remember. They love dramatically.”

Diana almost smiled. Almost. Talon squeezed her hand gratefully before continuing.

“When Diana recovered… We demanded answers.”

He looked directly at Rafe.

“And we found them.”

The room became still again.

“The interrogation revealed that Luna Hazel had been secretly communicating with rogue wolves.”

Several Alphas frowned. That part they already knew.

“But there is something many of you don’t know.”

His golden eyes locked onto Rafe.

His voice was heavy.

“I witnessed the testimony.”

The hall erupted. Vanessa tooked horrified. She turned toward Rafe.

“You never told me that.”

Rafe refused to meet her eyes. Talon continued.

“If that isn’t active participation in a conspiracy against one’s own pack…”

His voice echoed through the hall.

“…then I don’t know what is.”,

He paused.

“Perhaps…”

His eyes remained on Rafe.

“…he did it because Hazel was his mate. But choosing your mate over your Alpha…choosing your mate over innocent pack members….choosing your mate over your own pack…”

He shook his head.

“Is still betrayal.”

The room fell silent. No one argued. No one interrupted. Even wolves who had begun sympathizing with

Rafe now looked uncertain.

Finally Elder Mirela spoke.

“I understand your testimony, Alpha King.”

Her expression remained thoughtful.

“And personally…”

She stopped herself.

“No.”

“I must remain impartial.”

She folded her hands.

“However…”

She looked at Talon.

“You understand our position.”

Talon nodded.

+do.”

“Luna Hazel is dead. The rogues who testified are also dead.”

She glanced toward Rafe.

“Which leaves us with conflicting testimonies.”

Rafe immediately straightened. Exactly. He had been waiting-for this.

Elder Mirela continued.

“You have presented a compelling account.” But we still require undeniable evidence.”

She sighed softly.

“Former Beta Rafe claims he merely obeyed his Luna. He claims He acted under command. He claims he had no choice.”

She looked at Talon.

“Can you prove otherwise?”

Before Talon could answer- he smiled. A slow… Confident… Dangerous smile.

“What about my sister?”

The question caught everyone off guard.

Elder Mirela blinked.

“Your sister?”

“Yes.”
