Chapter One Hundred Eighty Five
“I am with pup?” Diana whispered.
Amazement filled her voice. For a moment, she simply stood there, staring at Ravenna as though she had forgotten how to breathe.
Then, very slowly, her hand moved toward her stomach. It was still flat. There was no visible sign of the life growing inside her.
No gentle curve. No movement. Nothing that would have made her suspect she was carrying Talon’s child.
And yet, now that Ravenna hád said it, Diana remembered the exhaustion. The dizziness. The way her body had felt heavier than usual. She had blamed everything on the constant rogue attacks, the lack of sleep, and the poison she had recently survived.
Never once had she considered that she might be carrying a pup. Inside her mind, Artemis had gone completely silent. Then-
“We are with pup?”
Her voice came out soft. Almost disbelieving. A heartbeat later, the Silver Wolf released a joyous howl inside their shared mind.
“Our pup!”
Diana barely had time to smile before Talon moved. One moment, he stood several steps away. The next, he was directly in front of her. Ravenna saw only a blur. Talon cupped Diana’s face with both hands, his deep blue eyes wide with awe.
“I am going to be a father?”
His voice sounded different. Softer. Almost boyish. As though, for one rare moment, the mighty Alpha King had disappeared, leaving behind only a man who had just received the greatest news of his life. Diana’s eyes filled with tears.
“Yes,” she whispered. “It seems you are.”
Talon’s gaze immediately dropped toward her stomach. His hands followed. He placed both palms carefully over her abdomen, as if afraid even the gentlest touch might somehow hurt the life inside her. Inside him, Fenrir was no longer calm.
“We are with pup!”
The great wolf howled so loudly that Talon almost laughed.
“Our mate is carrying our pup! Our heir! Our little one!”
Fenrir’s joy crashed through Talon with so much force that his eyes briefly flashed gold. Diana could feel it through the bond. Pride. Love. Awe. Fear. Every emotion tangled together. Talon lowered himself until he was kneeling before her. He pressed his forehead gently against Diana’s stomach.

“My pup,” he whispered.
Clam
Diana threaded her fingers through his hair. Her tears finally slipped down her cheeks. For the first time since Ravenna began telling them about the curse, the room felt warm. Hopeful. Alive. Talon looked up at
her.
“You should have told me.”
Diana laughed through her tears.
“I did not know.”
Fenrir immediately grumbled.
“We should have known.”
“How?” Talon asked him inside their shared mind.
“We are her mate.”
“That does not make us a healer.”
“We should have smelled our pup.”
“The poison, and the rogue blood may have hidden it.”
Fenrir went silent. Then huffed.
“We will smell the pup from now on.”
Talon almost smiled. He stood and pulled Diana into his arms. Carefully. So carefully. As though she had suddenly become something fragile. Diana immediately noticed.
“Talon.”
“What?”
“Do not start treating me like glass.”
“You are carrying our pup.”
“I am aware.”
“You nearly fainted.”
“Once.”
“That is enough.”
Diana gave him a warning look.
Ravenna watched them quietly. She allowed them to enjoy the moment because she knew what she had to say next would change everything. The joy would remain. But it would become mixed with fear. Responsibility. Danger. Ravenna’s expression grew solemn.
“Yes,” she said softly. “You are with pup.”

Talon and Diána turned toward her.
“And that is one of the reasons I came.”
Diana’s smile faded-slightly.
“One of the reasons?”
Ravenna nodded.
“I will be one of your protectors, Diana.”
The room changed immediately. Talon’s body stiffened. Diana frowned.
“What do you mean?”
Her hand remained over her stomach.
“Why would I need another protector?”
Ravenna looked toward Talon, then back at Diana.
“Because carrying the next generation changes the power of the Silver Wolf.”
Artemis became alert.
“What kind of change?” Diana asked.
Ravenna took a slow breath.
“When a Silver Wolf becomes pregnant, her body and her wolf instinctively redirect part of their power toward protecting the unborn pup.”
Diana listened carefully.
Clam
“Half of your strength,” Ravenna continued, “half of your healing ability, and half of every gift connected to Artemis will now be used to protect the pup.”
Talon’s grip on Diana tightened. Ravenna went on.
“You will not be as strong as you were before.”
Diana’s expression hardened.
“How much weaker?”
“Enough that you must be cautious.”
“That does not answer my question.”
“Your physical strength will be reduced. Your endurance will fall. You will become tired more quickly. The gifts you once used without effort may take longer to respond.”
Ravenna’s pale eyes lowered toward Diana’s stomach.
“And the power Artemis uses to protect your blood from poison will no longer work as quickly.”

The room fell silent. Dlana remembered the last poison. The way Artemis had struggled to force it from Tier body. The exhaustion afterward.
“That is why it was harder for Artemis to remove the poison,” Diana said.
“Yes.”
Ravenna nodded.
“You were already with pup when Thorne attacked you.”
Diana’s eyes widened.
“So the pup was there?”
“Yes.”
Talon’s face drained of color.
“The earth spike…”
His voice became rough.
“The poison…”
He looked at Diana’s stomach.
“It could have harmed the pup.”
Ravenna did not soften the truth.
“Yes. Although, it sill too early to detect at that time
Fenrir roared inside Talon’s mind.
“He almost killed our pup.”
