The Silver Wolf (Diana and Talon) novel Chapter 189

Chapter One-Himbed Sight Nine

Chapter One Hundred Eight Nine

“How far along are you, Ravenna?” Diana asked, her gaze dropping toward the White Witch’s stomach.” And will you really be able to use your magic against Thorne? What about your pup? Will both of you be safe if you fight?”

Ravenna’s expression softened.vFor a moment, she looked almost surprised by the question.vNot because Diana had asked about her strength.yBut because Diana had immediately thought of her child

too.

Slowly, Ravenna placed one hand over the slight curve of her stomach vTo anyone looking at her, she appeared only a few months pregnant. The swell beneath her dress was small, barely noticeable unless someone knew to look for it.yBut Ravenna smiled sadly.

“I may look as though I am only a couple of months along,” she said, “but that is because of magic.”

Diana frowned.

“You are hiding your pregnancy?”

“Yes.”

Ravenna nodded.

“I have been using a concealment spell since I first realized I was carrying.”

Her hand moved gently over her stomach.

“I am almost seven months pregnant.”

Diana’s eyes widened.

“Seven months?”

Even Talon looked shocked. His gaze immediately moved toward Ravenna’s belly, then back to her face.

“You are carrying a pup that far along and still traveling alone?” he asked.

There was no accusation in his tone. Only disbelief. Ravenna gave a quiet laugh.

“A witch pregnancy is slightly different from a wolf pregnancy, Alpha King. And my child is not a pup.”

She glanced toward Diana.

“Although with Thorne as the father, I suspect our little one will have enough stubbornness to compete with any wolf.”

For the first time since the conversation began, a little warmth entered her voice. Diana smiled. Then Ravenna’s expression slowly changed again. The happiness disappeared.

“When I first discovered I was pregnant…”

She lowered her eyes.

“was su happy.”

Her fingers curled gently over the fabric covering her stomach.

“Thorne and I had wanted a child for a very long time.”

Her voice became softer.

“We had talked about it for years.”

Diana listened quietly. Ravenna continued.

“We imagined what our child would look like. Whether the baby would inherit Thorne’s eyes. Whether he or she would carry my white magic or Thorne’s stronger elemental gifts.”

A small, wistful smile touched her lips.

“Thorne used to say he hoped our child inherited my temperament.”

Talon raised an eyebrow.

“Why?”

Ravenna actually laughed.

“Because he said one of him in the world was already more than enough.”

Diana smiled.

“I think he may have been right about that.”

For a brief moment, Ravenna’s face lit with the memory. Then the light faded.

“When I learned that I was finally carrying his child, I wanted to tell him immediately.”

Her voice broke slightly.

“I imagined surprising him. I had already thought of how I would do it.”

She looked down again.

“I even prepared a small charm. A protection charm for fathers. Something our people traditionally give when a pregnancy is announced.”

Her eyes filled with tears.

“But by then…”

She took a slow breath.

“The curse had already started changing him.”

Diana’s smile vanished.

“The nightmares?”

Ravenna nodded.

“At first, they were small things. He would wake in the middle of the night angry and confused. Sometimes he called me Agatha. Other times, he would stare at me as though he had never seen me before.”

She swallowed hard.

“Then the visions came. He started seeing things that had never happened. He remembered me leaving him for a wolf. He remembered betrayal. War, Blood. All memories belonging to Gideon.”

Diana felt a chill run through her. Ravenna continued.

“Thorne knew something was wrong. At first. He knew those memories did not belong to him. He would come to me afterward and apologize. He would hold me and tell me he was frightened.”

Ravenna’s lips trembled.

“He asked me once…”

She paused.

“He asked me if I would still love him if the curse took everything good inside him.”

Diana’s heart tightened.

“What did you tell him?”

“That nothing could make me stop loving him.”

Ravenna answered immediately.

“I told him we would fight it together. I told him that/whatever darkness came, he would not face it alone.”

She wiped a tear from her cheek.

“And I meant it. But each week, he became worse. he nightmares lasted longer. The visions became stronger. The darkness followed him even when he was awake. Sometimes I would speak to him… And he would answer Gideon.”

Diana closed her eyes briefly. She could only imagine the horror of watching the person you loved slowly forget who he was. Ravenna continued.

“I kept waiting for the right moment to tell him about the baby. But the right moment never came. One evening, he disappeared.”

Diana looked back at her.

“He simply left?”

“Yes.”

“No goodbye. No explanation. Nothing.”
