The Silver Wolf (Diana and Talon) novel Chapter 63

Chapter Sixty Three

Talon sat behind his targe desk in his office, a stack of documents spread across its surface. Across from him, Enzo leaned over another pile of reports, scanning them carefully before signing where needed.

The paperwork had accumulated during their time in Crimson Fang Pack. For several days, the administration of Black Howler had been running on the efforts of Elders, his Gamma Galvin, and senior warriors. Now that Talon and Enzo were back, the mountain of unattended work was waiting for them.

“Why do pack leaders always underestimate paperwork?” Enzo muttered as he signed another document.

Talon gave a quiet huff of amusement without looking up. “Because we prefer fighting enemies to reviewing grain supply reports.”

Enzo chuckled lightly and set another parchment aside.

Before either of them could continue, a mind link suddenly reached Talon.

“Alpha, Alpha Charles, Luna Carla, and their daughter Lady Vanessa are at the gate requesting permission to enter the pack.”

Talon’s pen stopped moving, then he leaned back slightly in his chair.

“Let them in,” Talon responded through the mind link.

A moment later he lifted his gaze to Enzo.

“So,” Talon said calmly. “The drama has begun.”

Enzo frowned slightly. “What do you mean?”

Talon folded his hands on the desk. “Alpha Charles, Luna Carla, and Vanessa are at the gate requesting

entrance.”

Enzo’s eyebrows rose. “Ah.”

That explained everything.

“They came faster than I expected,” Talon added.

“Well,” Enzo said dryly, “their daughter was expelled from our territory.”

Talon stood from his chair and asked. “Can you meet them at the front and bring them here?”

“Yes, Alpha,” Enzo replied, already standing.

A small smile appeared on his face.

He had no intention of missing this conversation. He would very much like to be inside the room when the Alpha King of Black Howler spoke with the Stone Claw Pack’s ruling family.

As Enzo moved toward the door, he paused.

“What about the Luna?” he asked.

“Should she be present for this meeting?”

Talon sighed quietly. “I will mind-link her if she is already back, but I believe she and Willow went to town to look for clothes for the marking ceremony.”

The moment Talon mentioned his sister’s name, he noticed the subtle change in Enzo’s posture.

It was small.

Barely noticeable.

But Talon missed very little when it came to his pack.

Enzo’s shoulders stiffened slightly, his expression shifted.

Talon’s eyes narrowed thoughtfully. He did not know the full story, but he knew something had happened between Enzo and Willow before they left for Crimson Fang.

Something that neither of them had explained and clearly still lingered between them.

Enzo reached the door when Talon called out again. “Enzo.”

Enzo stopped, turned slowly. “Yes, Alpha?”

Talon studied him carefully.

“I would like to know what happened between you and my sister.” The words were calm, but firm. “I will not allow personal tension between my Beta and my sister to create.awkwardness every time you are in the same room.”

His gaze sharpened. “It will eventually affect the pack.”

Enzo nodded slowly. “Yes, Alpha.”

But inside, Enzo felt a weight settle in his chest. He was not looking forward to that conversation, because Talon was right.

He had hurt Willow, and he knew it. Even Leah had told him so

When he told Leah about his past with Willow, she had listened quietly at first. But then she looked at him with disappointment.

“You should have told her before we came back to Black Howler,” Leah had said. “You owed her that

much.”

She was right.

As his mate, Leah deserved honesty about his past, but Willow deserved honesty too.

Now Leah felt awkward around Willow.

Not just Willow.

Diana as well.

Their families had been close for years.

But everything had changed.

When Leah learned the truth about Diana’s parents… things became even more complicated.

Her parents had been among those in the bunker that day, and they knew what had happened. She knew Hazel had ordered them to stay silent, but they could not say anything.

Leah still remembered Diana walking through the bunker that day, asking everyone what had happened. Her voice was desperate, and her eyes were full of hope that someone-anyone-would tell her the truth. But no one could.

And now Diana was their Luna.

Leah’s parents still felt guilt over what happened, even though Diana had already forgiven them and though it was not their fault.

Still… the feeling remained.

Enzo shook his head slightly, forcing the thoughts away.

Now was not the time, he had a task to complete.

He stepped out of Talon’s office and made his way through the pack house toward the main entrance.

Outside, the front gates opened as a black vehicle rolled slowly into the courtyard.

Enzo arrived just as the car came to a stop.

The door opened, and three wolves stepped out.

Alpha Charles.

Luna Carla.

And Vanessa.

Enzo approached calmly, he greeted with a respectful nod. “Alpha Charles, Luna Carla, Lady Vanessa. Welcome to Black Howler.”

“Beta Enzo,” Alpha Charles wasted no time. He said stiffly, “We are here to speak with Alpha King Talon.”

His tone carried restrained irritation.

Enzo smiled politely. “Of course, the Alpha is waiting in his office.”

He gestured toward the pack house. “Allow me to escort you to him.”

Vanessa’s eyes briefly scanned the territory around them.

There was resentment there, embarrassment, and humiliation, but she said nothing.

Alpha Charles gave a curt nod. “Lead the way.”

And as Enzo guided the Stone Claw Pack’s ruling family into the heart of Black Howler territory…

He knew one thing for certain, this meeting was not going to be pleasant, because when proud Alphas came seeking justice for their children, peaceful conversations rarely followed.

The moment Beta Enzo stepped out of his office, Talon remained sitting behind his desk for a moment, listening to the fading sound of his Beta’s footsteps in the corridor.

The office felt unusually quiet now, but Talon knew that quiet would not last.

Alpha Charles would not have come all the way to Black Howler territory without a purpose, and considering the circumstances of Vanessa’s departure from the pack, Talon could already guess what kind of conversation awaited them.

Still, there was one person who needed to be present.

Talon closed his eyes briefly and reached out through the mind link.

“Love, are you back?” Talon asked gently.

A few seconds passed before Diana’s voice came through his mind, warm and calm. “Yes, we just got back. Willow and I just returned from town. I’m in our suite now.”

Talon smiled faintly at the image of Diana returning from shopping with his sister. He could imagine Willow carrying too many packages while trying to convince Diana to buy more dresses than she actually needed.

“I hope the shopping went well,” Talon said lightly through the link.

Diana chuckled softly in his mind. “Willow made sure it did.”

Talon shook his head slightly. That sounded exactly like his sister. But then his expression grew more

serious.

“Can you come to my office?” Talon asked. “We have visitors.”

There was a brief pause from the other side of the link.

“Visitors?” Diana asked curiously.

“Yes,” Talon replied. “The Stone Claw Pack.”

Another short silence followed.

“Alpha Charles. Luna Carla.” Talon paused deliberately before adding the last name. “And… Vanessa.”

This time the pause was longer.

Talon could almost feel Diana processing the information through the bond they shared. He imagined her standing in their suite, perhaps setting down the bags she had brought back from town, her mind already shifting from the peaceful morning to the coming confrontation.

When Diana finally spoke again, her voice was calm, but Talon could sense the steel beneath it.

“I see.”
