Chapter Sixty Six

The moment their vehicle left the borders of Black Howler Pack, the silence inside the car lasted only a few seconds.

Then Vanessa exploded.

“Daddy!” she snapped, turning toward her father with clear frustration. “How could you let her talk to us like that?”

Her voice rose in indignation.

“You’re an Alpha. Not just any Alpha either-you are one of the most powerful and influential Alphas among the allied packs!”

She threw her hands in the air dramatically.

“And you just sat there while that she-wolf spoke to me like I was some misbehaving pup!”

Alpha Charles slowly turned his head toward his daughter.

His expression hardened.

“Do you even hear yourself right now?” he asked coldly.

Vanessa blinked at his tone.

“She is the Luna Queen,” Alpha Charles continued. “The mate of the Alpha King.”

His voice carried the restrained anger of someone who had just been deeply embarrassed.

“How could you let us walk into that office and humiliate ourselves like that, Vanessa?”

He shook his head in disbelief.

“You know your mother and I do not tolerate bullying in our pack.”

His voice lowered dangerously.

“And today we learned that our own daughter is the bully.””

Vanessa crossed her arms stubbornly.

“And you did it in another pack,” Alpha Charles continued, his frustration growing. “Not just any pack either -the Royal Pack.”

He leaned forward slightly.

“You are fortunate Talon only banished you from his territory.”

His eyes darkened.

“If he had thrown you into the dungeon, I would not have been able to stop him.”

Vanessa scoffed.

“Oh please, Daddy.”

She rolled her eyes dismissively,

“Talon would never do that to me.”

Her voice carried arrogant confidence.

“He cannot afford to lose your support.”

She smirked slightly.

“And that she-wolf? We don’t even know where she came from.”

Vanessa waved her hand dismissively.

“What could she possibly offer Talon as his Luna?”

Alpha Charles stared at her in disbelief.

“Are you truly this delusional?” he asked slowly.

Vanessa stiffened.

“She is the Alpha King’s mate,” Alpha Charles said firmly.

His voice turned sharp.

“Do you actually believe he needs our support to maintain his rule?”

Vanessa frowned slightly.

Alpha Charles leaned back and sighed.

“Do you think Talon is feared because of alliances and political influence?” he asked.

He shook his head.

“No.”

His voice lowered.

“He is feared because of his power.”

Alpha Charles looked out the window briefly before continuing.

“We do not support his reign because we are forced to.”

He looked back at his daughter.

“We support his reign because we need his strength.”

His voice grew heavier.

Then his gaze hardened again.

“And his Luna…”

He paused thoughtfully.

“Did you not feel it?”

Vanessa frowned.

“What?”

“The power radiating from her,” Alpha Charles said quietly.

He leaned forward slightly.

“She never once showed her wolf… yet the entire room could feel the strength coming from her.”

He shook his head slowly.

“She is not an ordinary wolf.”

His eyes narrowed slightly at his daughter.

“And if you could not feel that…”

He sighed.

“Then you are far more self-absorbed than I realized.”

Vanessa turned away angrily, staring out the window.

She refused to accept what her father was saying.

That woman…

Powerful?

Impossible.

She was nothing.

Just some unknown she-wolf who came from nowhere.

Unlike Vanessa.

She came from an Alpha family.

And not just any Alpha family.

Stone Claw Pack was one of the most powerful packs outside the Royal Pack.

If anyone deserved to stand besidé Talon as Luna Queen-

It should have been her.

Not that nobody.

They were nearing the borders of Stone Craw territory when suddenly-

THUD.

The vehicle jerked violently as something slammed against the front of the car.

The driver slammed the brakes.

“What was that?” Alpha Charles demanded sharply.

The driver frowned as he looked ahead.

“I’m not sure, Alpha. Something just ran in front of the car.”

He opened the door.

“I’ll check.”

The driver stepped out carefully and walked toward the front of the vehicle.

Several seconds passed.

Then he hurried back toward the car.

“Alpha,” the driver said urgently, opening the door. “It’s a wolf.”

“A wolf?” Luna Carla asked.

“He’s unconscious,” the driver explained.

Alpha Charles immediately stepped out of the vehicle.

Luna Carla and Vanessa followed.

As soon as Vanessa stepped out of the car-

A scent hit her.

It was strong.

Wild.

Powerful.

Her wolf surged inside her mind.

“Mate!”

The word echoed loudly.

Vanessa froze.

“No… no… no,” she whispered to herself. –

Inside her mind, her wolf howled again.

“Mate! Mate! Mate!”

Vanessa clenched her fists.

“How can that be?” she whispered internally.

Her wolf continued excitedly.

“Mate! Save mate! He hurt!”

Vanessa stared down at the unconscious wolf lying on the road.

He was badly injured.

His clothes were torn and stained with blood.

But his face-

Even unconscious, there was something about him.

“Who is he?” Alpha Charles asked the driver.

“Is he a rogue?” Luna Carla asked.

The driver shook his head.

“I don’t think so, Luna.”

He frowned.

“He doesn’t smell like a rogue.”

He hesitated.

“But he also doesn’t carry a pack scent.”

Alpha Charles frowned.

Before he could say anything-

Vanessa spoke.

“Daddy…”

Her voice was quieter now.

“He’s my mate.”
