The Silver Wolf (Diana and Talon) novel Chapter 86

Chapter Eighty Six

Talon did not answer immediately. He just stood there-Still. Silent

His eyes locked on Damon. Burning. Hatred. Pure. Unfiltered.

Hatred for the male who had hurt his sister-

Not with claws.

Not with a blade-

But with something far worse. Neglect. Indifference.

Talon wanted to hurt him. Truly hurt him. To make Damon feel-

Even a fraction-

Of what Willow was going through right now. But Diana was right.

And that truth-

Was the only thing holding him back. This was not about him. Not about his anger.

Not about revenge. This was about Willow. And right now-

Willow was dying. Her wolf was fading. Her body was failing.

And the only thing that could anchor her-

Was her mate.

Whether Talon liked it or not-

Winter needed Cerberus.

And once the bond formed-

Then-

They could use Diana’s blood.

Then-

Willow could fight for her life. Silence filled the room as everyone waited. Because this decision-

Was not just a brother’s. It was an Alpha King’s. And whatever Talon chose-

No one would question it.

Finally-

He spoke.

“If I agree…” His voice was low. Controlled.

“for you to mark my sister.” His eyes sharpened on Damon.

“You will reject her.” The room stilled.

“When she is healed.” A beat

“I will not have her bound to you for life.”

Damon didn’t react. Didn’t flinch. He just stared back. Expression unreadable.

“Talon-”

Diana stepped in gently.

“Willow can reject him herself once she recovers.”

“No.” Talon didn’t even look at her.

“She can’t.”

Diana frowned.

“What do you mean she can’t?”

Talon’s jaw tightened.

“The Royal Pack…” He exhaled slowly.

“We have a vow. A vow to the Goddess.”

Diana stilled.

“We cannot reject our mates.”

Silence fell.

“Our mates can reject us,” Talon continued.

“And we can accept it. But we…”

His voice hardened.

“…can never initiate the rejection.”

The weight of that truth settled over everyone.

Diana’s expression shifted. Understanding. That meant-

If Damon marked Willow-

She would be bound.

Unless-

He let her go.

“Alpha” The healer’s voice cut through the moment. Urgent.

“We do not have time.”

Talon closed his eyes briefly. Then opened them.

“Take us to her.”

The healer nodded immediately.

Turning-

Moving quickly down the hall. Everyone followed.

Except-

Damon and Conall-

Who lingered for half a second.

Then followed behind. The moment Damon stepped into Willow’s room-

Cerberus howled.

A raw. Broken sound inside his mind.

“Mate…”

Damon froze.

Willow lay on the bed-

Too still. Too pale. The machines around her beeped softly. Wires connected to her body.

Bandages visible beneath the thin hospital gown.

She looked-

Fragile.

Smaller than he remembered.

Like she could disappear-

At any moment.

“We will not lose her.” Cerberus growled.

“Not again.”

Damon swallowed.

“Yes.”

His voice was quiet.

We won’t

“We will protect her.”

“We will beg,” Damen said in their shared mind.

“If we have to.”

“She will forgive us.”

Damon’s jaw tightened.

“We just need time.”

A pause.

“And a way to take her with us.”

Cerberus stilled.

“You angered her brother.”

“I know.”

“He will not let us stay.”

“Then we take her with us.”

“Only if she chooses it.”

Damon’s eyes softened as he looked at Willow.

“She will.”

A beat.

“She has to.”

“Rogue King.” The healer’s voice pulled him back. “Please.”

Damon stepped forward-

But before he could reach the bed-

Talon moved.

Standing directly in front of him.

Blocking him. The air shifted. Heavy. Dangerous. Their eyes locked.

Two kings. Two predators.

“You heard the healer,” Damon said. His voice steady.

“We don’t have time.” A pause. “My mate needs me.”

Talon’s nostrils flared.

His control-

Hanging by a thread. Everything in him screamed-

To tear this male apart. To make him suffer. But-

“Talon.” Diana. Her voice softer now. But firm.

“She doesn’t have time.”

Talon didn’t move.

“Whatever you’re feeling…” Diana continued.

“Willow doesn’t need it right now.” A beat. “She needs you to choose her life.”

Silence.

Then-

Slowly-

Talon stepped aside.

Damon didn’t waste a second.

He moved forward. Stopping at the head of the bed. Careful. Gentle.

As if she might break under his touch. He reached for her.

One arm sliding beneath her head-

Supporting her. Careful of the wires. The bandages.

He turned her slightly. Exposing her neck.

The place where his mark would go. Then-

He leaned close. His voice dropped. Soft. Low.

Only for her.

“Don’t leave me…”

A pause.

His breath brushed against her skin.

“I’m sorry.”

The words came rough. Unpracticed.

“I hurt you.”

His grip bightened slightly-

Careful-

But desperate.

“But I need you to stay.” His voice broke just slightly.

1 need the chance to fix this. To earn you. To make you forgive me.” A breath.

“Don’t leave me.”

Quieter now.

“Not you too.”

Then Damon pulled back slightly-

Just enough to breathe.

Just enough to steady himself.

And then-

He let Cerberus take over.

The shift wasn’t physical-

But it was unmistakable. His presence deepened.

Darkened. Sharpened. Predatory. Ancient.

Cerberus surged forward within him, no longer held back by hesitation or pride-only instinct remained

now.

Only one truth.

Mate.

Damon’s lips parted slowly.

His breath warm against Willow’s skin

For a fraction of a second-

He hesitated. Not because he doubted

But because he understood-

This moment would change everything.

Then-
