Chapter 209
Andrew Collins?
Joseph touched his jaw. It wasn’t dislocated, but his gums had been torn, and he could already taste blood in his mouth.
Andrew tried to run, but unfortunately for him, this was Joseph’s hospital. There was just no way he could escape.
There were police officers downstairs, so the moment Andrew stepped out of the elevator, he was pinned down.
After the necessary procedures were completed, Andrew was taken to the precinct and was set to face serious charges.
Realizing the severity of the situation, Andrew hastily claimed it was merely a personal dispute involving his partner and that it was all a misunderstanding.
When the police questioned Joseph, however, Joseph said he didn’t even know Andrew’s partner, so there could be no such dispute. And he told the officers to continue their investigation.
Fiona showed up with a settlement agreement. “Joseph, please cut Andrew some slack and let him go. He only came after you because he found out you slapped me.”
Only then did Joseph piece everything together. The slap at Lowell Group had made Fiona resent him, and she had sent Andrew to get payback.
“You’re close to Cora, and she trusts you. You must know about the man she’s seeing. Give me a name, and I’ll sign it.”
“You’re putting me in an impossible position. I really don’t know.”
“Then you can keep covering for her.”
Joseph grabbed the settlement agreement and ripped it to shreds.
“Joseph, your injuries are minor. Let’s not waste public resources over this.”
“Your professional competence is seriously concerning, Fiona. Why don’t you take a look at the facts first?”
Joseph pulled out an injury report.
Fiona realized the injured person in the report wasn’t Joseph. “This isn’t yours.”
“Correct. It’s my colleague’s. After Andrew was pushed off me, he kept coming at me and stomped on my colleague’s foot in the process.
“Yeah, I was blind, blind for not seeing your true colors sooner!”
Joseph waved her away. There was no point continuing the conversation, Right after, Joseph got an unexpected call from Wendy.
Joseph had treated Wendy for her burns last time. After that, Yvette had transferred her and the others to the burn unit. And when Frank was transferred to the hospital, Joseph already knew Wendy had been discharged to recover at home.
The Croma faction had already divided up the Ashmore family’s assets and spared the remaining members who no longer posed a threat.
“Joseph, can Frank speak now?”
“If he hadn’t regained the ability to speak, how would you have come to suspect Mr. Huff and your wife?”
“Heh. If you want to know if he can talk so badly, come down to the hospital and see for yourself.”
Joseph hung up, his brow instantly furrowing in a deep scowl. Even Wendy knew about Warren and Cora. It seemed that he really was the only one left in the dark.
