A Man with Nerves of Steel (Joseph Hart) novel Chapter 210

Chapter 210

Not long after that, Wendy appeared at the hospital. She had survived, but the fire had ruined her face. She wore a hood, a mask, sunglasses, and gloves, covering herself from head to toe.

She first went to Frank’s room. After trying to talk to him for a while, she realized that Frank still couldn’t speak. Even attempting to raise his hands or exert force caused them to tremble uncontrollably.

Thus, the two of them failed to communicate.

So, Wendy went straight to Joseph’s office, saying, “I know you have a way to let Frank speak again. Why is he still unable to talk?”

Joseph didn’t answer immediately. He simply finished the work in front of him before opening Frank’s file and flipping through it. “Frank suffered neurological damage. His central nervous system and the autonomic nerves around his spine were affected.

“Whether he recovers or not will depend on how the treatment progresses.”

Wendy frowned. “You’ve separated conjoined twins and reconstructed their nerves. You definitely have a way to help him recover. What do I have to do before you’ll save him?”

Joseph closed the file and said calmly. “I’ve done all I can. All of us have. The rest depends on Frank’s own will to live. Seriously, you people barely understand the situation before you rush to conclusions. You put yourselves on a moral pedestal and pass judgment on others. You’re wretched.”

“You…” Wendy felt both embarrassed and angry at being lectured.

But she persisted. “Joseph, do you know how important Frank is to the surviving members of the Ashmore family? You don’t. All of the money our family has is with him. Only he knows where it’s hidden. Unless he wakes up and tells us where it is, we

wouldn’t be able to live on.

“Just look at us now. How’re we supposed to survive in the future in this pathetic state?”

After taking a deep breath, Joseph mocked, “But the situation has reversed now. He’s ugly, but you’re even uglier. It he still treats you the same way he used to, then it might be real love. If he starts to avoid you because of your appearance, then he’s nothing special after all.”

Wendy fell silent as she glared at Joseph with resentment. What Joseph said might be true, but it was extremely painful.

After a moment, Wendy said, “That’s exactly why I need Frank’s money. It’s not just so I can survive, but also so I can get plastic surgery for my face. Joseph, please. Show some kindness and help me.”

Joseph crossed his arms. You’re not the only one who asked me to notify them the moment Frank can speak…”

Wendy cut him off. “You have to sell me first. I’m his sister, after all.”

Joseph smiled faintly. “His sister? That argument doesn’t hold much weight with me. But I’m willing to give you a chance. Tell me everything you know about Warren, especially if it’s about him and Cora.”
