Chapter 602
“You want to know? Once we’re married, I’ll tell you everything!” Yara replied.
“What the hell? I can’t believe this bitch really wants to marry me. In her dreams. I’m only going to kill her,” Joseph thought.
Even so, another sinister thought crossed his mind. He could use this identity to trick Yara into marrying him, get her to hand over her wealth, and then take everything with him. She would be left with nothing.
But doing so would be unnecessary and would defeat his original intention. What he really wanted was to make Yara pay for deceiving him and setting him up. He also wanted to find out what she had done to him.
Joseph smiled. “Marriage sounds good, but would you really marry down to someone like me? I don’t buy it. Even if you actually meant it, Mr. Zahn would kill me when he finds out about this!”
“Let’s get married for real then. Skylar won’t be able to do anything. If you really care about me and are still willing to accept me even after I’ve lost both my legs, then he’d have no reason to object. He might even thank you for taking care of me,” Yara said.
“Looks like I’m not completely useless after all. I may be ugly, but I’m still useful!” Joseph said with a chuckle.
He tried to probe Yara a little further, but she was adamant and wouldn’t reveal anything. If anything, that only confirmed that he needed to find out more about Mona. Whatever she was hiding clearly involved Yara-and possibly even Skylar.
He would be more than willing to do whatever it takes to bring down the Zahn siblings. In fact, it was something he had to do. Now that they were hospitalized, watching everything they had built over the years being slowly taken away while they were powerless to stop it must be frustrating for them.
After his night shift, Joseph went to check on Mona. This time, he had more time to examine her. As he caressed her face, he suddenly noticed something.
It was clear that Mona had had some work done. Her facial features had been altered!
Joseph was under disguise as well, but it was completely different from Mona’s. He had used acupuncture to make his muscles and connective tissues twist and contort to alter his appearance.
It was like manipulating a wad of putty that would return to its original shape the moment you let go.
On the other hand, Mona’s bones were shaved and reshaped. She had either altered her bone structure or used fillers to change the contours of her face.
Growing bolder, Joseph explored her bosom and discovered she had work done there as well. Even her hips had been altered, her limbs lengthened to increase her height.
She had gone to this much trouble just to become a completely different person.
He became even more curious about what Mona originally looked like. In fact, he was certain that he could recognize her as long as he saw her actual face.
After work, Joseph received a call from Cora. She didn’t bother beating around the bush. “Dr. Jebb, I want to transfer Mona Scott. What’s the procedure?” she asked.

“What do you mean by that? Although no one has gone to the cops and the authorities aren’t involved in investigating such a serious accident either, you’re not even her family. How are you going to transfer her?” Joseph asked.
He didn’t wait for Cora to reply before continuing, “Besides, Mona is connected to the Zahns. You can’t just transfer her wherever you want.”
“Mona’s useful to me, but she won’t make it through tonight if she continues to stay at the Traditional Medicine Center,” Cora claimed.
