Buying My Forever Wife novel Chapter 102

Alaric's patience was wearing thin. "People were spreading vicious rumors about her. I had to investigate to clear things up, didn't I?"

Summer Vance eagerly chimed in.

"See? I wasn't lying. Her husband abused his authority at the hospital to give her paid time off and an early promotion."

Alaric shot a freezing, predatory gaze at Summer, his unspoken authority radiating through the room.

Terrified, Summer shrank back against Eleanor, not daring to breathe another word.

Ethan's parents stood nearby, their faces etched with anxiety, completely oblivious to the family drama unfolding beside them.

Ivy focused on setting up Ethan's IV.

Out of the corner of her eye, she scanned the circle of people sitting nearby.

Aside from her husband and Summer, there was a middle-aged couple and a woman in her seventies.

All of them were impeccably dressed, radiating an effortless, aristocratic aura.

The elderly woman in the center, in particular, was the picture of regal elegance. Her makeup was flawless, and the emerald necklace resting against her collarbone was clearly worth a small fortune.

This was the staggering wealth of the Foster family.

Ivy knew she was entirely out of their league.

If it weren't for the fact that she got paid to stay at The Starlight Estate with Stella, she would have taken the hint, divorced Mr. Foster, and walked away a long time ago.

Unable to shake the intense discomfort of their stares, Ivy quickly finished her task, grabbed her tray, and hurried out.

Alaric watched her retreating figure.

A cold scoff echoed in his mind. His wife was practically built on a foundation of lies.

Just last night, she claimed there was a family emergency and she had to go back to her hometown.

Yet here she was, showing up at the hospital first thing in the morning.

Unless she could magically clone herself, she had been lying.

It was obvious she had just been trying to scam money out of him.

When that failed, she had no choice but to drag herself back to work.

She probably never expected her husband to show up at the hospital bright and early.

Alaric felt his disgust for this woman growing by the second.

"Since Ethan wants this nurse to care for him, pay her to do it exclusively. I'm heading home. Call me if anything changes."

At noon, the head nurse approached Ivy again.

"Ivy, you don't need to worry about any other patients from now on. For the duration of your shift, you'll be caring for Ethan Foster exclusively. The Foster family is paying a supplementary $3,000 daily nursing fee."

Ivy stared at the head nurse in pure shock.

"You're not joking, are you?"

The head nurse's expression remained dead serious.

"Do I look like I'm joking? I don't know how you got so lucky, but three grand a day means you're looking at almost a hundred thousand a month."

Combined with their base salary, it was exactly that much.

Ivy was speechless.

A hundred thousand dollars a month...

With that kind of money, she could easily afford Gemma's medical treatments.

Suddenly, Ivy felt overwhelmingly blessed.

She was lucky that a kindhearted guy like Ethan favored her, constantly tossing literal lifelines of cash her way right when she needed it most.
