Buying My Forever Wife novel Chapter 147

Seeing that Ivy absolutely refused to move, Alaric had no choice but to ask Mrs. Gable to prepare some medicine and bring it upstairs.

Even after taking the medication, Ivy felt zero relief. She curled up into a ball on the bed, her face still horribly pale.

Watching her huddle into such a tiny, fragile ball, Alaric felt a sharp pang of sympathy. He reached out a long arm and beckoned her.

"Come here and press against me. My body heat runs high; it might help you feel a bit better."

He had heard that menstrual cramps were usually caused by a cold physical constitution.

She had already drank hot water, and Mrs. Gable had brought up a hot water bottle, but since nothing was helping, his own body heat was the only other solution he could think of.

In this exact moment, Ivy was incredibly vulnerable.

The pain was so intense that she was literally seeing stars.

Hearing Alaric's words, her mind was in such a fog that she didn't even think twice before burying herself directly into his chest.

In that split second, Alaric felt his heart violently seize.

He felt a spike of nervousness, completely out of his element.

His entire body went rigid as stone, and it took him a long while before he finally, tentatively raised a hand to rest it gently on her side.

Wrapping his arms around Ivy, Alaric felt his heart thundering like a war drum, completely out of his control.

Even his breathing felt shallow and ragged.

When he felt a blistering heat rush to his face, he quickly reached out and flicked off the lamp, terrified that Ivy would notice how completely flustered he was.

Ivy, however, was pouring all of her focus into fighting off the agonizing cramps in her abdomen.

She didn't have the mental capacity to think about anything else.

All she knew was that she was enveloped in a deeply comforting, soothing heat, which actually seemed to dial back the pain and make her feel incredibly safe.

Because of that, she pressed herself even closer to his body.

Eventually, she wrapped her own arms around his waist and, amidst the fading pain, drifted off into a hazy slumber.

Alaric, however, didn't sleep a wink the entire night.

It was the very first time he had ever experienced a girl holding him so intimately.

Breathing in her sweet scent and feeling the intoxicating softness of her body against his.

His blood was boiling, a wild, thrilling rush of adrenaline roaring through his veins.

Several times, he was entirely convinced he wouldn't be able to hold back.

But the moment he heard her breathing even out, he realized the pain must have subsided and she was finally asleep.
