Alaric never had a good impression of Ivy to begin with.
Hearing Summer's words now only added a few more layers of disgust to his thoughts.
He glared at Summer, tossing out his words like ice.
"That is Ethan's own business. Can he not handle his own affairs without you flapping your lips? If I hear you spouting this kind of nonsense again, you can kiss your job at the hospital goodbye."
Summer had always known that her youngest uncle was an eccentric man.
He kept women at a distance, acted ruthlessly, and showed no mercy to anyone, not even family.
She was terrified.
She sat back down politely, not daring to utter another syllable.
Alaric arrived home at eight o'clock in the evening.
Not seeing Ivy and the child, he coldly asked Mrs. Gable, "Where are they?"
Mrs. Gable quickly gestured upstairs. "Mrs. Foster seems to be teaching Stella how to dance. They're in the dance studio."
Alaric frowned slightly, his expression darkening as he headed upstairs.
His wife knew how to dance?
Didn't Summer say her family was dirt poor? How did she have the resources to learn to dance?
Alaric walked up to the door of the dance studio and paused when he heard the beautiful melody playing inside.
Sure enough, he saw Ivy in a simple dress, twirling under the lights with his child.
Though her steps were basic, her movements were fluid, and every motion blended perfectly with the rhythm. The bright lights shining down on her seemed to give her an extra burst of vibrant energy.
It made her look incredibly youthful and radiant.
Coupled with her natural beauty and delicate features, the dance made for an exceptionally captivating sight.
Alaric couldn't bring himself to interrupt.
The dance ended, and the music stopped.
Stella's applause and childish cheers immediately echoed through the room.
"Wow, Mommy, you danced so well! You look just like a fairy from heaven. You're so pretty!"
Ivy felt a bit bashful from the praise, completely unaware of the man standing in the doorway. She pulled Stella close and replied modestly.
If that was the case, she really had brought it upon herself.
She knew full well that her husband disliked her and was highly suspicious of her.
Yet she still addressed him like that. If that wasn't asking for a scolding, what was?
Ivy took a deep breath to steady herself and followed him to the study.
Alaric asked Mrs. Gable to take the child to bed, while he sat in his leather executive chair. His cold eyes locked onto Ivy as she walked in, his attitude freezing.
"I heard Ethan transferred quite a bit of money to you?"
Ivy gasped internally, her heart skipping a beat.
But she didn't dare deny it. Lowering her head and clasping her hands tightly, she nervously confessed.
"Yes, he transferred a total of a thousand dollars to me."
Ivy knew her actions didn't look good.
But ever since she found out they were uncle and nephew, she hadn't accepted another dime from Ethan.
As for what she took before, she had provided a service, so she had earned it.
