Buying My Forever Wife novel Chapter 89

Hearing Ivy praise him once again.

Alaric's heart fluttered. He was so pleased that the corners of his mouth almost curled into a smile.

But he held it in.

He maintained his aloof expression, his eyes pitch-black and bottomless.

"In your eyes, I'm not old?" Alaric asked.

As soon as the words left his mouth, he felt ridiculous.

Why did he need a young girl's validation of how he looked?

But since the question was out there, he was very curious to hear what she had to say.

Ivy was very honest.

She quickly shook her head and said sincerely:

"How could you be old? To me, aside from being a little older than I am, you're perfect in every way. You're successful at a young age, dashing, and extraordinarily handsome."

"A man like you is even better-looking than the leading men in TV romance dramas. Plus, you have this incredibly noble aura about you."

Her small face flushed crimson. She looked at him cautiously and added one more sentence.

"You're truly the most handsome, most charming man I've ever met."

After she finished speaking, Ivy felt entirely consumed by embarrassment. She quickly lowered her head, not daring to look at him.

Listening to her, it felt as though a bundle of fireworks had exploded in Alaric's heart, leaving him so overjoyed he felt dizzy.

The expression on his handsome face softened from aloof to gentle, the curve of his lips nearly impossible to suppress.

So, in his wife's eyes, he was this wonderful.

But if he was so wonderful, why wouldn't she take the initiative?

Why wouldn't she fulfill her marital duties?

Could it be she was just feeding him sweet words to squeeze more benefits out of him?

Alaric suddenly felt frustrated again.

Not hearing the child speak anymore, he figured she must have fallen asleep. He reminded her:

"Just stay with Stella and go to sleep."

Ivy replied, "Okay. You get some rest soon, too."

Alaric hung up the phone.

Even though he was sleeping alone in the apartment, he found it hard to fall asleep.

Summer only dared to glare coldly at Ivy, too afraid to start another argument with her.

She took her phone and went to a corner out of sight of the cameras to slack off, too lazy to even do her work.

Ivy was still at the nurse's station sorting through the documents in front of her, occasionally answering calls from patients.

Just as she was busy, someone suddenly stood in front of her.

Ivy looked up. Seeing it was Ethan Foster, her small face grew serious, and she asked professionally:

"How can I help you?"

Ethan shook his head. "I'm fine. I just came to check on you. Seeing you working normally puts my mind at ease."

He had thought his uncle might actually fire Ivy after his cousin's stunt.

It seemed Alaric was still quite fair and reasonable.

Seeing that he wasn't leaving, Ivy added:

"I'm working. If you don't have any business here, please don't stand around."

Noticing there wasn't anyone nearby, Ethan lowered his voice and asked:

"Ivy, do you have some kind of prejudice against me? Why are you being so cold to me? Can't we even be friends?"
