"You might want to look over your shoulder," Ivy warned dryly.
Patrick spun around.
Seeing Summer storming toward them with a ferocious glare, his demeanor flipped instantly as he shoved the flowers and lunch bag toward her.
"Where did you go? I just got here. I was just asking Ivy where you were."
Summer snatched the bouquet and the food, her eyes darting suspiciously between Patrick and Ivy.
Then, dripping with arrogance, she pointed a finger at Patrick.
"Don't you ever say another word to her again. Do you hear me?"
Patrick nodded submissively. "Yeah."
Summer then turned her wrath onto Ivy.
"And you! Since you're already married, act like it. Patrick is my boyfriend now. Don't even think about making a move on him."
Ivy lowered her eyes, a scoff escaping her lips.
He really deserved an Oscar for that performance.
It was a tragedy Patrick wasn't in Hollywood.
How could anyone be so remarkably two-faced?
One second he was begging to marry her with profound devotion, and the next, he was bowing to another woman's every command.
Ivy had to bite the inside of her cheek to stop herself from laughing out loud.
Seeing Ivy's total indifference, Summer boiled with rage. She aggressively yanked Patrick down into a nearby chair and barked an order.
"My hand hurts. Feed me."
Patrick froze, terrified of looking pathetic in front of Ivy, but equally terrified of crossing Summer.
When he hesitated for a fraction of a second, Summer lost it.
"Are you deaf? I can't hold a fork. Feed me!"
Left with no choice, Patrick obediently opened the container and obliged.
Just then, a few nurses walked by and complimented Summer.
"That's exactly what he deserves."
A sharp ache pierced Ivy's chest, but she forced the most ruthless words out of her mouth.
"If he wasn't out there trying to force you into an arranged marriage, he never would have gotten hurt. Hazel, I'm going to say this one more time: if you don't finish your degree, I am completely washing my hands of you."
Even though Hazel was at a prestigious music conservatory, pursuing a career in the arts required serious financial backing.
But Ivy refused to let her sister's brilliant talent go to waste.
What if Hazel actually made it big in the music industry?
She believed in her sister's potential with everything she had.
"Ivy..."
Hazel continued to cry, seemingly incapable of severing ties with their toxic household.
Desperate to keep her focused on her studies, Ivy finally compromised.
"Just ignore the drama at home. I'll call Gemma and figure out what's going on. I'll handle it."
