Chapter 337 She Prayed She Was Wrong

Chapter 337 She Prayed She Was Wrong

Ralph’s face hardened back into the icy mask he had worn when he first arrived.

There it is again.

Even Maddox thought Ralph was completely unreasonable.

Maddox was born emotionally stunted, yet Ralph was even colder and more unfeeling than him.

The three of them kept staring at him, still watching him the way they would watch an enemy.

Ralph let out a sharp snort and shifted back into his human form.

His eyes locked onto a single point in empty space.

He moved faster than a phantom. Before anyone could react, he threw a punch straight at one of the simulated stars hanging in the arena sky.

The whole arena shook like a mountain collapsing. Countless shards of stardata came crashing down toward them.

Gillian grabbed the two men off the ground and struggled desperately to fly clear of the falling debris.

Ralph sneered, “I could kill all three of you right now if I wanted. Is my goodwill still not enough, you ungrateful boys?”

He stood rock-solid where he was. He watched the three of them scrambling uselessly in the air, then finally held back from striking again.

Cold dread seized their hearts. He could snuff out their lives without the slightest effort.

Gillian asked quietly, “Merrick, has your father broken through level 10?”

“It’s hard to say. What do you think, Maddox?” Merrick frowned.

“Almost certainly. None of us were a match for him,” Maddox said, clenching his fists.

No ordinary punch can shake the entire arena apart like that. None of us stands a chance against him.

The tiny Blue Phoenix circling above their heads suddenly let out a shrill cry. The sharp noise made all three wince in agony. “Warning! Arena structural integrity critically damaged.

“Freya?” Gillian frowned.

Freya’s voice suddenly reached Gillian’s ears. It was shaky, as if she were in terrible agony. “Gillian, hurry and stop him. He’s tearing the arena apart. I can barely hold the simulation together.”

Gillian asked, “Freya, what’s wrong? Are you hurt?”

Freya said, “I can’t take a second hit… ugh…”

She cut off and coughed up a mouthful of blood.

Somehow, she was still forcing the collapsing arena to stay intact.

“She’s got some skill, I’ll give her that,” Ralph remarked, but no one felt flattered by the compliment.

Gillian wheeled around and flew straight at him.

Running away was no longer an option.

She now knew for certain that if Ralph truly wanted them dead, this arena could never hold him prisoner.

“Hurry, Gillian! Don’t wait!” Freya’s urgent voice pushed her forward.

Gillian closed her eyes and made up her mind. “Freya, we’re going to take a gamble. Ralph doesn’t want us dead. He has some plan he’s trying to carry out.”

The giant golden firebird did not unleash an attack. She landed right in front of Ralph instead.

She said, “We’ll talk this out first. If you refuse to answer me, I’ll blow both of us up right here.”

Merrick and Maddox had no idea what Gillian was planning, but they did not step in to stop

her.

Ralph stared at the firebird facing him down, ready to trade her life for answers. To everyone’s surprise, he agreed to negotiate.

He said, “Ask whatever you need to know. I’ll tell you what I can.”

Ralph shot a disdainful glance at Merrick and Maddox.

Gillian asked, “You knew about the scaled parasites long before this. When did you first find

out?”

Ralph frowned. “We’re family now. Don’t be so cold. I might as well be your father.”

Gillian fell silent.

Merrick frowned.

Why is this old man so obsessed with being other people’s father?

Maddox tightened his fists, a new thought dawning in his mind.

The leader of all beastmen would not go back on his word so casually. Gillian floated gently down to the ground and fixed her large eyes on Ralph.

She said, “Ralph. I need you to tell me the truth.”
