Chapter 339 Stand Against Our Enemy

Gillian asked, “You have known about the flower beasts for a long time, haven’t you?”

Ralph nodded. “Naturally. They are born extremely gifted. By age two, they reach power levels that most beastmen on Void Star can never attain in a lifetime. Yet their lifespans are short, and they quickly end up as prey for other creatures.”

There was no emotion whatsoever in his tone. Gillian thought he sounded just like a cold, unfeeling machine.

“What are you trying to say about the flower beasts?” she asked.

Ralph said, “Let me phrase it so you will understand. Do you realize these flower beasts are only the lowest-tier genetically engineered lifeforms from the Central World?”

Gillian fell completely speechless. Lily possessed such flawless genes, yet she was merely the lowest rank among Central World creatures.

How overwhelmingly powerful must the higher breeds be?

Ralph stated, “I wondered how such low-grade flower beasts could advance to such high levels. Now I see it is all because of you.”

He stared at Gillian, as if a long-standing puzzle had finally been solved.

Yet his expression was strange. It looked less like he was gazing at Gillian, and more like he was staring right through her at another person.

“Because of me?” Gillian knew she could purify the taint, but she pretended not to understand.

Unexpectedly, Ralph did not press her for details on how she had raised the flower beasts.

Instead, he brought up an unrelated subject. “How many flower beasts have you found in total?”

Ralph’s tone was calm, no longer domineering. He spoke to her as an equal.

Gillian replied, “Only three hundred young cubs, plus nearly seven hundred unhatched eggs.”

“Is that all? And you have brought them all up to level 8?” Ralph stroked his chin.

Fear shot through Gillian, and she rushed to deny it. “That can’t be true. I could never possibly make them reach…”

Ralph held up a finger and shushed her. “No lying between us. If you’re dishonest, I won’t answer any more of your questions.”

“Just what exactly are you trying to get out of this?” Gillian shot back, mirroring his tone. “I cannot answer that question either.”

“Good girl.” He thought for only a few seconds before stating his real purpose. “I will not come to Wasteland City again. But I will post permanent guards at the Central World Marker. A new batch of flower beasts and the taint will emerge two years from now. I need you to locate them and nurture them.”

“What makes you think I will agree to your plan?” Gillian found his overconfidence unsettling.

“Because flower beasts can only survive under the protection of the Arbor Solis,” Ralph smiled sharply at her. “The Blazewing Solis always makes its home on the Arbor Solis. They should not call you Mom-they ought to call you Master.”

Gillian suddenly understood why Lily and Ruby had said she carried the exact same scent as their birth mother. It had all been true.

“You learned about the Blazewing Solis from the Central World? Have you seen one with your own eyes?” she asked.

“I cannot answer that,” Ralph chuckled.

Gillian cared deeply for these flower beasts. Central World genetic lifeforms were usually cold and ruthless, no matter how perfect their genes. This was the first time he had ever met such a passionate, affectionate Blazewing Solis.

Ralph continued, “The flower beasts are naturally under the protection of the Blazewing Solis clan. Are you just going to abandon them? If you walk away, I will take them all into custody.”

“I will do it,” Gillian blurted out anxiously the moment she heard him threaten the little beasts. “But you must guarantee your troops will never harm them.”

Ralph nodded. “Very well. You may raise every flower beast you have found. Perhaps by then, Void Star will finally have the strength to stand against our enemy.”

His abrupt statement stunned all three of them.

The orbital paths of Capital Planet and Outer Planet were bizarre. The two clung close to each other, dragging their satellite star systems deep into the endless dark void of space.

No other alien civilizations existed beyond a handful of small asteroids. There should have been no outside enemies.
