Throwing caution to the wind, Seraphina lunged forward, snatched the lingerie from his grasp, and shoved it behind her back. "It's nothing! It's just a rag! I... I'm throwing it away right now."
With that pathetic excuse, she scrambled back toward the bathroom, wishing she could flush herself down the toilet.
It was unbelievably humiliating.
She had never been so mortified in her entire life.
Lucian slowly turned around to face her.
With his tie hanging loose, the crisp collar of his shirt revealed the sharp lines of his collarbones.
Leaning casually against the wardrobe, he looked effortlessly relaxed, but his gaze was predatory, burning hot enough to strip her bare.
"A rag made entirely of lace? How incredibly unique," he noted, his voice dripping with amusement.
Seraphina's face was flushed completely crimson down to her neck.
She squeezed the ball of pale green fabric behind her back in a desperate bid to destroy the evidence.
"It... Tiff just bought the wrong thing," she stammered, scrambling for any excuse. "She said it was for washing my face... I had no idea it was something like this..."
"Mommy, you wash your face with lingerie? Hahaha! That's hilarious! Your excuse is so bad!" Little Bean rolled around in her belly, howling with laughter.
Seraphina aggressively wanted to flush the little traitor in her stomach down the toilet along with the lingerie.
How dare he mock her at a time like this?
Lucian watched her, his lips slowly curving into a smirk.
"For washing your face, you say?" He took a slow step forward.
Seraphina instinctively backed away until her lower back hit the edge of the bathroom counter.
Lucian's eyes darkened as his gaze dropped.
She had dashed out wearing nothing but a simple white towel, leaving the stunning curves of her shoulders and luminous skin fully exposed.
Lucian's Adam's apple bobbed as his voice dropped to a husky whisper. "Then why don't you demonstrate how you wash your face with it?"
Seraphina was absolutely speechless.
Frozen in place and clutching the scandalous lingerie, only one clear thought echoed in her mind...
*Tiffany Taylor, just you wait. I'm officially ending our friendship tomorrow.*
"Tiff... she was just playing a joke on me. I'm throwing it away now," Seraphina managed, taking a shaky breath.
It was the first time she had ever heard him laugh.
It wasn't his usual cold smirk, but a genuine, joyous laugh that resonated from his chest.
Her heart skipped a beat.
He casually draped the lingerie over the towel rack, his tone surprisingly gentle. "Since it's a gift from a friend, throwing it away would be terribly rude."
"Then... I'll just put it away," Seraphina mumbled, reaching for it.
Lucian had already turned and strolled out of the bathroom. "Your hair is still wet. Dry it first."
Rooted to the spot, Seraphina stared at the glaringly obvious green lace draped over the rack, curling her toes in absolute second-hand embarrassment.
"Mommy, Daddy totally checked you out just now," Little Bean commented casually.
*Shut up!* Seraphina mentally screamed.
This kid always knew exactly how to make a bad situation worse.
"He laughed! He looks so handsome when he laughs!" Little Bean completely ignored her warning. "Mommy, you're crushing on him, aren't you? I can feel your heart beating super fast!"
