Back at the Prescott Estate.

Phoenix stepped out of the car and tossed the keys to Lawrence, who had hurried over to greet her. "Have the car washed and the tank filled."

The car belonged to Macy, borrowed for temporary emergencies. Although having a chauffeur was nice, when things got urgent, she preferred the reassurance of holding the steering wheel herself.

It seemed it was time to get herself a ride.

"Fiona, whip up something to eat, a few of your signature dishes," Phoenix ordered casually as she pulled Meredith into the house.

Meredith curiously surveyed the luxurious villa, trying to glean more about Phoenix's past from the furnishings.

"Phoenix, won't me staying here inconvenience your family?" Meredith asked, looking a bit uneasy.

Phoenix let out a cold scoff, her tone detached. "This manor is mine. If anyone is inconvenienced, it's them."

"Phoenix, you're just too cool!" Meredith gave a thumbs up, her eyes full of admiration. "Whether inside or out, you're always so decisive and badass."

Compared to four years ago, Phoenix was a completely different person. It was an edge forged in hellfire; had it not been so, she would have long been a pile of bones. Fortunately, under her wing, Meredith had avoided being assimilated by that cruel environment.

Fiona was quick on her feet and soon served several visually appealing and aromatic side dishes.

Phoenix ushered Meredith to take a seat, but not long after picking up her fork, unpleasant noises drifted from the doorway—the two most annoying people had returned.

"Oh, Ms. Prescott, it's a while before dinnertime, and you're already eating? Isn't that a bit against the rules?" Phoebe's passive-aggressive voice was the first to sound.

Phoenix didn't even bat an eyelid, simply placing a piece of ribs on Meredith's plate.

Meredith glanced at Phoenix and, seeing her impassive face, lowered her head and ate quietly.

The sensation of punching a pillow left Phoebe deeply frustrated. She rolled her eyes, her gaze landing on Meredith. The girl had a soft, cute appearance and dressed simply, looking completely harmless.

Phoebe immediately made up her mind: low-class trash, a country bumpkin just like Phoenix.

"Who is this sister?" Phoebe put on a sweet, innocent smile and leaned closer. "Hi there, I'm Phoebe, the second lady of the Prescott family."

Meredith still didn't speak, just glancing up at Phoenix.

Phoenix finally put down her fork, a layer of impatience coloring her brow. She looked up coldly. "Do you need something?"

"Julian, forget it." Phoebe hastily held Julian back, her face written with grievance and "understanding." "Actually, since Ms. Prescott spent all those years inside, she probably doesn't have any decent friends. Anyone she brings home must be a 'very important' person."

Julian sneered coldly, his face full of disdain. "A very important person? Looks to me like an inmate just like her, birds of a feather."

*Smack!*

Phoenix violently slammed her hand on the dining table, the sharp crack freezing the air instantly. She slowly lifted her head, her gaze piercing like a sword, stabbing straight at Julian.

"Say that again."

"Was I... wrong?" Julian's heart trembled under that terrifying stare, his momentum instantly weakening, but he stubbornly pushed on. "The Prescotts are a prestigious family. If word gets out that you brought back someone of such lowly status, it will inevitably draw criticism. I'm telling you to choose your friends carefully for the sake of the family's reputation! Your status is already... awkward. If you keep mixing with people like this, Grandfather won't be happy."

"Lawrence!"

Too lazy to listen to any more nonsense, Phoenix gave a cold order. "Throw these two eyesores out."

"Phoenix, you dare?!" Julian's eyes widened in disbelief. "This is the Prescott estate! It's our home! What gives you the right to kick us out?"

"Because I am the owner of this house."
