Outcast Queen: Her Return from Hell novel Chapter 114

With a soft beep, the sound of a successful transaction struck like a thunderbolt, instantly freezing the expressions of everyone in the room.

They stared at Phoenix in disbelief, as if it wasn't a massive sum of cash that had just been swiped away, but their own pride and dignity.

"How is this possible?!" Penelope's voice went shrill. The finger she pointed at Phoenix trembled violently. "You... you actually have fourteen million dollars?!"

Phoenix casually took the black card back from Curtis. Twirling it between her fingertips, a playful smirk tugged at the corner of her lips. "Manager Vance, you can collect the remaining balance from Ms. Sterling. I believe someone as 'powerful' as Ms. Sterling wouldn't dare default on a debt."

Curtis immediately turned around, his face plastered with a professional, practiced smile. "Ms. Sterling, how would you like to pay the remaining four million dollars?"

Four million dollars?!

That was supposed to be just a small remainder!

Penelope's vision went dark with rage, her chest heaving violently. She hadn't believed for a second that Phoenix could actually produce that much money. But now the truth was laid bare in front of her. That successful transaction chime felt like a resounding slap across her face, burning fiercely.

"Pfft!"

Meredith couldn't hold it in any longer and burst out laughing. "Oh my, she's just too kind! Usually, people ask the dealership to round down the price, but she volunteered to pay the difference! Phoenix, we must have really good karma today to run into such a massive sucker... I mean, such a great person!"

Phoenix raised an eyebrow. Her silent, smiling demeanor felt like an ultimate provocation laced with mockery in Penelope's eyes.

"Phoenix, how could you possibly have that kind of money?!" Ian pointed at her, his features twisted with jealousy and hatred. "An ex-con fresh out of prison like you—where did you get millions of dollars?"

Phoenix cast a sidelong glance at Ian, a trace of ridicule surfacing in her eyes. "Ian, you'll have to go home and ask your dear father about that."

"What do you mean?!"

Ian's face changed drastically. Had something happened at home while he was away? Or was this money his father's way of compensating Phoenix? No! This country bumpkin should have been honored to take the fall for Phoebe; she wasn't worth a single cent, let alone millions!

"Ms. Sterling?" Curtis didn't have time for elite family drama. All he saw was the massive commission about to land in his lap. Selling an eighteen-million-dollar hypercar meant a bonus he could hardly fathom.

Penelope's face turned the color of bruised plum. She was mortified and absolutely did not want to be the sucker in this situation.

"Who's causing trouble here?!"

Just then, a rough, booming voice erupted like thunder.

Penelope's eyes instantly lit up, and she eagerly looked toward the entrance. A group of burly men stormed in aggressively. Although the man leading them wasn't Vinnie, his ferocious aura felt even more terrifying.

"If Vinnie didn't call you, then... why are you here?" Penelope narrowed her eyes, her voice turning icy.

Leo ignored her completely. He turned straight toward Phoenix. The menacing scowl on his face instantly melted into deep reverence as he hurried forward and bowed deeply. "Ms. Prescott, I'm sorry to keep you waiting."

Ms. Prescott?!

Penelope and Ian instantly turned to stone.

The same arrogant, untouchable Leo was now bowing submissively to Phoenix? How was this possible?!

Phoenix simply curled the corner of her lips, giving the two of them a half-smile. "Leo, you have perfect timing."

"Wow, Phoenix, you actually know Leo?" Meredith gasped in surprise. "Leo is the underground king of the south district. He's a big deal!"

"And this is..." Leo looked at Meredith.

"My friend," Phoenix said flatly.

Leo's eyes brightened, and he immediately flashed a bright, almost fawning smile. "So you are Ms. Prescott's friend. It's an honor, an absolute honor! Please, no need to call me Leo in a formal way. Just call me by my name, or... just Leo is fine."
