Phoenix shook her head, her voice dripping with pity. "Sebastian, do you truly believe your precious sister is capable of creating something this stunning?"
Sebastian furrowed his brow, shooting back without a second thought. "Phoebe was raised with the finest education the Prescott family could buy. How could a loser like you ever compare? She could design something a hundred times better whenever she wants."
"What a touching sibling bond." Phoenix scoffed. "I wonder how you'll feel after seeing this next part."
The scene on the big screen shifted.
In the video, Phoenix stood up and left the room. A moment later, the door creaked open, and Phoebe's figure crept stealthily into the frame.
In the dead silence of the hall, everyone watched as Phoebe walked straight to the laptop, pulled out her phone, and snapped multiple photos of the design draft.
The truth was laid bare.
No further explanation was needed. It was blatantly obvious that Phoebe had stolen Phoenix's work and passed it off to Sebastian as her own to gain his favor.
Sebastian stood frozen, his eyes wide with horror. In his mind, Phoebe had always been the flawless, obedient darling of the Prescott family.
Yet, watching her sneak around on that screen felt like taking a brutal, stinging backhand across the face.
"Phoebe, what is this?"
"It's fake! She manipulated it with AI!" Phoebe shrieked, her voice pitching up in panic. "You can't believe her! I'm your sister, I've been by your side for over a decade. Are you going to believe an outsider over me?"
A suffocating wave of despair crashed over Sebastian, making his chest ache.
Logic told him to trust her, but the footage was seamless. The lighting and details were flawless. There was absolutely no sign of tampering.
"Phoenix! You knew you were going to get caught for plagiarism, so you forged this to throw dirt on me!" Phoebe glared at her with venomous hatred. "Who puts a security camera in their own bedroom? Weren't you worried about your privacy? This is a deliberate setup!"
"Right. That has to be it." Sebastian clung to the excuse like a lifeline, his wavering resolve hardening into delusion. "Nobody puts cameras in their bedroom. This video makes no sense. It's a fake."
Clap, clap, clap.
The crisp, slow applause echoed through the room.
